When I run PVRX2 the window is created but only displays what was previously on the screen. I've reinstalled with only blue skin and no plugins. Many errors in the logs attached. This is on my HTPC. I've got it working fine on my laptop. :confused:
What, me worry?

Sorry, but I suspect your video card is not up to the Direct3D requirements of PVRX2.

Make sure that you have installed DirectX9.0c. I had what seems like the same problem you described, and I only had 9.0b. Upgrading to 9.0c let it start.

Thanks for the tip, but I do appear to have 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904). This made me think of the old quartz.dll issue, so I checked that, updated the quartz.dll file to 6.05.2600.2905 (from .2749). Still no joy, PVRx2 won't run. Sad

As Sub said, your video card is not up to it. The PVRX2 engine is using directdraw / direct3d (DX9?) commands which don't seem to be recognised by your machine / hardware - maybe it's not DX compatible?

I think thats what all these errors are about:

Code:
m_pD3DDev->CreateTexture(uiElement->image->Width, uiElement->
image->Height, 1, 0, D3DFMT_A8R8G8B8, D3DPOOL_MANAGED, &texture, NULL) failed
Error code : 8876086C
D3DERR_INVALIDCALL
Invalid call

The quartz.dll bug was only to fix some interlacing issues when viewing high motion video, I don't think it affected the ability for DX to run on certain hardware (I may be wrong)

You could get by with an ATI radeon 9250, which should be quite cheap by now (and passively cooled for the HTPC) - or use the old interface.
(I'm not sure how the 9250 would perform on the X2 interface however)

I am also unable to open PVRX2 with 1.0.16. The window frame opens, but the window is empty and whatever was behind the window shows through.

Based on the comments here, I thought it may be due to my really old video card, so I just installed a new Asus N7600GS card. PVRX2 still doesn't work.

I have DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) installed. My system passed all tests in dxdiag.

My PVRX2 logs are attached.

I can still use the old GBPVR, but it's a hassle now since it's no longer in the tray menu.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Anthony

Yep, switch back to the default blue skin.

OK, switching back to the basic blue skin lets PVRX2 work.

Unfortunately, I had modified the EPG screen to show more stations with a smaller font. Far less scrolling and easier to find shows I want to record.

How can I use my modified EPG with PVRX2?

Thanks,

Anthony
