Remote questions...

I have looked around, but may be missing something.
Is there good documentation for what each button on the remote does?

I was checking out the Key mappings on the Wiki.

but it doesn't tell me what all the buttons do as a default.

Anyway, once I know what every button does I would like to do the following:
1) Change the aspect ratio with remote
2) close current window with remote (keybord Alt+F4)
The reason for #2 is I am going go add a plugin to Open up IE to my homepage, so I can check real quick and then close with the remote.

Once again, any help is appreciated...

It depends on what type of remote you have. If you have a Hauppauge remote, you make changes in a windows file called "irremote.ini" If you search the forums for "irremote.ini" you will get lots of suggestions on how to do various things, including the things that you want to do. However, the trick is to make sure that you don't use buttons that your plugins use for other things. I had set "Go" as the key to change the aspect ratio but then I couldn't use all the features of "showsearch" and had limitations on my searching capability. I decided I wanted to search for "all movies" with one search more than I wanted to change the aspect ratio so I changed it back. I noticed one person uses the "radio" "music" and "pictures" button to do other things, probably because it is just as easy to go back to the main menu and select those choices from the main menu bar. That is my goal when I try to update my remote for the pvrx2 version.

If you use an MCE remote (with the windows logo on it), then you may need a program like "hip". Search for Hip and there will instructions on how to modify your remote. Before I realized I couldn't use HIP and didn't need to, I received the instructions in this thread from member TON
