Hi,

As I just said, Will GBPVR work with Freecom USB DVB-T stick?

I can tell you the numbers on the stick if you can tell from that.

Also, will GBPVR work with Windows Vista? GBPVR looks very good, and I want to use it!

A quick search of the forum suggests that it will work with the freecom thingie.
Certainly there are Vista users on here (but I'm not one).

be sure to check the first post on this thread http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=28626 and keep an eye on the survival guide thread that is mentioned.

have fun.

I haven't a clue if the Freecom will work with GBPVR and Vista.
The freecom seems to work with GBPVR and GBPVR seems to work with Vista, but I don't know if anyone has that full combination Smile. There's no reason it shouldn't work. If you have problems, there are numrous folk on here and the developer who will give fast and acurate advice to solve problems.

Ok, thanks, will try to get it to work in a few days and I will post if it does or does not work. Smile

And, sorry, I have another question.

Is there any fix for Windows Vista Media Centre yet? It can't tune to BBC ONE, TWO, and some other channels, but on another program, it does work, (just switch programs, and it works!).

The following worked for me on a fresh XP SP2 installation. Some backtracking so may be slight variations and I don't know if all of this is strictly necessary.

Main references for working this out:
 • http://www.hall-of-heroes.com/journal/?p=19
 • http://www.digital-air.co.uk/2006/02/fre...eiver.html
 • http://www.dvhardware.net/review82_freecom_dvb-t.html, incl discussion

Install .NET v1.1
Install .NET 2.0
Install from KLite codecs
Would be OK if you have other MPEG-2 codec e.g. Cyberlink PowerDVD
Download from http://www.k-litecodecpack.com/
Just install the MPEG-2 codec
Larger selection from KLite caused WMP11 to crash playing DVR-MS files
YMMV on using more from KLite
Copy AutoDVRConvert v1.3 to suitable place and run the registration batch file
From http://www.heimiko.com/
Not sure if this is necessary
Install VCRedist_x86.zip
Required by GBPVR
Download from Microsoft at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...laylang=en
Install .NET2 hotfix KB923028
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923028
May not be required.
Install the Freecom BDA drivers
Download from http://www.freecom.com/ecDrivers.asp
Family DVB-T, Group DVB-T Stick, OS XP
Plug in device
In Add Hardware, search for drivers in the directory of extracted files
Continue when installing unsigned drivers
Runs through twice
Install GB-PVR, these notes from v1.0.16
http://www.gbpvr.com/
After installation, run the GB-PVR Config program
Go to Capture Sources tab and Add a new source
Select Recording Source as BDA Recording Plug-In
Select EPG Source as DVB EPG Broadcast
Click Settings for the Recording Source
Check the box to only show detected devices
If no devices are listed, the name of the device in BDA.INI may be wrong
Edit BDA.INI in the GBPVR install directory
Locate the Freecom type 3 driver section (for DV3, see side of actual USB stick)
Change the FILTER_TUNER name to have a fullstop on the end
FILTER_TUNER=USB Digital-TV Receiver.
If this still doesn't work use GraphEdit to find the correct name
Select Graph | Insert Filters
Locate the BDA Source Filters
Check the exact name shown one level down in the hierarchy
Save BDA.INI, exit, restart Config, repeat the steps above
Select the listed Freecom driver as the device type
Select the Country and the Region/Transmitter appropriate
Leave All Region if needing to do a full scan
Note, this can be very slow but may be best way to locate the transmitter
Save the BDA Plugin Settings
Click Map Digital Channels to EPG Channels
Click Rescan and start selecting channels
Follow the instructions and other info about using GBPVR
