I noticed lots of hits when I searched "negative ping time amd" on google with the solution with being an amd fix.

yeah I also went looking at "attansic network disconnect" and saw a lot of people complaining about sending large files with this lan chip.....why it would have just started happening I cannot understand.

Since the ping problems relate to multi-core it might be the change here

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...t=affinity

You could try setting this to see

<ForceSingleProcessorAffinity>true</ForceSingleProcessorAffinity>

Well I've put a second nic card in that I had around the house. If this is ok, I may look at replacing the mobo.

Question though on the mvpmc, if in emulation mode, can i exit back to mvpmc somehow?

Question, now that I've got 2 nics in this machine, is there a way of forcing the mvp to use only one of the cards?

Maybe bind to a mac address or ip address? i can force the newer card to alway be a static address.

Unfortunately no. It tries to bind all addresses, but I've never tested more than one nic, since thats all thats in my PC.

The --emulate xx.xx.xx.xx command line option specifies the server mvpmc talks to. If you don't use a config file or if you want to change it while running, connect to mvpmc with your browser, enter the new ip in the appropriate field and save your settings.

Well it did look promising, but when it crashed last night (even though I'd added a new nic) I pinged both cards, and got no reponse from BOTH!!!

Looks like OS rather than hardware again now - weird problem.
