Braklet, can you also make available the version of ffmpeg you are using? And the links to where it is publicly available?

Thanks

I forum PMed you a link to the SD-over-HD DVR-MS sample clip.

My ffmpeg isn't publicly available, a friend of mine compiled it for me. He took the liberty to exclude the AAC libraries to make the executable smaller.

The ZIP is about 1.9M. Having trouble attaching it to this message. Do you have anywhere I could email it?

In the meantime I'll forum PM you a TEMPORARY link to that ffmpeg. The server is not mine and the ZIP will disappear without warning so it is not reliable.

I downloaded the beta off of their forum this morning. here

I purchased videoredo a couple years ago and it added my registration number to the beta showing me as a registered user. They also offer a 15 day free trial.

It worked great I burned the same survivor show to a DVD, first try, with their software in about 15 minutes and it worked in my DVD player!Big Grin I can't tell you how much time I have spent in the past trying to get DVD's to work.

Sweet! I'm a registered user so should have no problem with this. Has DRD talked about eventual upgrade cost, out of curiosity?

I have successfully burnt DVD Video with many packages, but finally bought DVDLab-Studio even though it isn't super user friendly. Reason: it was the only semi-cheap program (meaning not US$800 like Premiere) that allowed me to set up multiple audio tracks per video.

But it is not exactly easy for simple stuff, like burning a few Simpsons episodes to DVD. So I'm definitely interested in something bundled with VRD.

FWIW I found TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.5 extremely easy to use but can't stand their periodic registration check, so refused to buy it.

Thanks again.

If I understand it, I would not be able make that build available and distribute, and I would want to be sure that anyone wanting it could get it easily on the gbpvr wiki...

I'm actually doing some research that shows MEncoder is going to do it all for use, transcode, downsize, crop and scale...

I have also found some hints that even the standard ffmpeg will do what we want. Just need to play a bit more.

I will probably be able to avoid using VideoReDo...

Let me look into this. My friend did not write one line of code for this ffmpeg.exe. He MAY have had to use commercial libraries in order to link it as a Windows executable, in which case we are probably safer to not release it to the world.

In general, it is OK for free projects to include FFMPEG. I'm just not clear on this particular executable.

Lead on, MacDuff! I like VRD but after all it is pay shareware.

Regarding "standard" ffmpeg, I think the version delivered with GB-PVR is just very old. The main difference between that and this is that the latter uses much more recent code.

Because I'm getting more solutions with MEncoder and I'm also able to include subtitles and colour correction, I will be making it work with MEncoder first...

I will always try to get it working with ffmpeg too. Things like subtitles just aren't possible with the stable releases... True might need upgrades

Also, when I was working on it last night, I noticed I had some troubles viewing my test transcodes with mvpmc. When I fell back to the default 1.0.16 dongle, it played better.

After I get it nailed down, I will be working with martin...

OK, he got back to me. Feel free to include that ffmpeg.exe on your Wiki page. As a matter of fact, he offered to recompile a version with all the codec options enabled (AAC and others). Let me know what you'd like.

Yes. If I can include that file, or provide a public link and it isn't disabled/crippled, I'd love to work with it.

But you're not gonna convince me to work with FFmpeg first... Big Grin

They have not settled on a price yet but I would suspect a differential similar to the Ver1 to Plus upgrade. Early upgraders will probably get a price break also.

Be sure to check out the "Title Editor" for adding simple titles to your mpegs.
