Using PVRX2 without VMR9

I would like to use PVRX2 over an RDP session that does not support VMR9.

Can I configure PVRX2 with a different display method?

No, I'm quite sure you can't, if you do a search you will find several occasions where sub states that pvrx2 will only work with vmr9.

Correct.

There are a couple of options for you. Some people are using VNC to remote connect into their PC. Alternatively, the RDP server in Vista has been improved, and does support VMR9.

I just installed from scratch on a new systems (Windows XP). When I start PVRX2 it tells me my system doesn't have VMR9...

I've looked and am not finding a 'how to' get this support.

The videocard and/or videocard drivers need to support VMR9 for it to be available.
