Transcoding Quality - DIVX

Folks,

I am running GBPVR 1.0.16 with an Hauppauge PVR-150 board. So far everything has been working exactly as advertised! Kudo's to the development team!

My question is about setting the transcoding quality. I currently have the MPG's converted to DIVX AVI's and then the MPG's are deleted. The recordings usually take place at Medium or High quality settings and look really good. The DIVX output, unfortunately, looks really bad and is still quite large. I know that DIVX video's can be much higher quality and have smaller file sizes. Is this a function of the transcoding utility or is there somewhere I can play with the settings that are used? I haven't found anything in the manual to help. I am also willing to move the transcoding to an external utility and just script the transcode step outside of GBPVR, if that seems like a better solution.

Any ideas?

Try the xvid transcode instead. Its much better quality. If you're keen to stick with divx, you can increase the bitrates in the divx profile in config.xml.
