I guess this is a combined bugreport/wishlist post. I caved in and bought an MVP, so this is all experienced using that.

- No feedback on which option is selected for "resume" or "restart" if that functionality is enabled in config. The default button stays outlined but the correct button is selected. (works fine in the Windows GUI)

- No OSD popping up after switching channels (works fine in the Windows GUI)

- The OSD is too transparent. Often impossible to read it (depending on what program is on in the background, obviously, for Windows there is no transparency so it's not an issue)

- Still freezes up quite easily while ff/rw during playback of recordings (I don't even know what keys do this in Windows so no idea if it's an MVP issue or not)

- (I assume this is a wishlist item, and possibly MVP specific) No ff/rw possible during live TV.

I'm using 0.20.5 btw.

I've added an option for the next release so you can change level of transparency. One thing you may not of noticed is the whole screen dims when the OSD comes on, so you may not want to change this setting too much. Unfortunately the more visible you make the OSD, the less visible the darker the video becomes.

I've now fixed the resume prompt not updating. Thanks for pointing it out.

I have noticed it. I assumed it's a technical limitation or else you would've made it look like it does in Windows. Being able to tweak it will be very nice indeed.

I take it getting ff/rw (or skip) to work reliably on the MVP is proving a hassle? I've noticed resume never has a problem getting to the right place without instability. Would a "goto hh:mmConfuseds" functionality be a possible workaround? Or even, is it already there and I just don't know about it?

Along with the ff/rw problems being able to do the same when timeshifting live TV is on the top of my list of wants. Actually, my personal definition of PVR is pretty much "able to timeshift and then ff over commercials". Being able to start an instant recording of the current channel by hitting the record button on the remote would be very nice as well.

I have no idea where they are on your list (of if they're even on it). So I figured I'd make a small donation as thanks for all your hard work so far, and in the hopes of getting a reply to that question or possibly even bumping them up a notch [Image: smile.gif]

A lot of effort was put into making skip forward and back work reliably in the last release. You can type a number of seconds then press the skip forward or back buttons. This same feature is used by the resume prompt.

I didn't spend too much time on FF/RW. I just didn't really have any time available. Part time project an all that... That said, if you can reproduce the error - please do so and send me over a copy of gbpvr.exe.log so I can get some clues whats going wrong.

I did have navigation in the live TV timeshift buffer working in the last release, but it wasn't super reliable so I again disabled it for the release. I didn't want to detract from the good work I'd done with the skip functionality and general MVP stability.

That's just what I was looking for. The length of commercial breaks are pretty predictable so that'll keep me quite happy [Image: smile.gif]

I'll do some more testing to see if I can't shorten the amount of steps needed to reproduce, then send over the result. Got the in-laws on a visit which results in rather limited TV access for experimenting, but once I manage to hog the tube once more I'll see what I can come up with.

At least now I know it's there and will likely make a comeback in a future version. That's good enough for me.

Just so you know, the skip forward and back buttons default to 60 seconds.

After getting frustrated by the ff bombing out on me on a consistent basis, I tried using skip to compensate (and noticed it skipped 60 seconds). Unfortunately clicking skip fairly rapidly resulted in the same kind of instability as with ff. If I give it some time to "settle down" between each skip it works fine, but that makes it a huge chore to skip through any significant amount of time. The ability to input the length of the skip solved that though so I'm happy. [Image: smile.gif]
