Client slowness

Is it normal to have a 1-2 second pause when skipping forward/back in a recording while watching from a client?

This is on a 100Mb network (both client and server have 1.0.16)

Yep, thats pretty normal.

if it is in streaming mode, yes it is normal.
if in shared mode, there isnt a pause, but you lose some other things.
