Morning All,

Having successfully used PVR (plug and play as I am no computer boff), my win2 k machine stopped playing ball and refused to scan for channels (Nova T USB2) even though WinTV was working fine. Given drivers as a cause I have dual booted the PC with XP too. So having installed everything on a new partition I am struggling to get GBPVR working as it was before...

Havingjust installed everything I guess I could be missing all sorted of DivX or stuff like that (this is where your help is needed).

I am having a problem playing anything! I can see files, those recorder or ripped but it fails to play. The MVP crashed and has to reconnect. The same happens for Live TV too. Having got 2 x Nova T now, I would be keen to get this working, and working well.

(Log files attached)

Any advice? Please note I am not going to understand tech stuff so Janet and John help would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Nick

I can see one error in your logs, which occurs when you attempt to play a .dvr-ms file on your MVP. To play this type of file you need to have the Cyberlink mux installed. I'm guessing this is missing. You can run MuxChecker to see.

For any future logs you need to post as we work through this, can you enable log flushing in the config app, and set the number of MVP servers to '1'.

MUX Checker giving the following message

"NO MULTIPLEXER FILTERS WHERE FOUND ON YOUR MACHINE.

GB-PVR will not function correctly unless you have WinXP SP1 or higher, which has a built-in DVR-MS mux filter."

I am running XP Home, SP2, so am confused to have this error.

I recall having this problem before and discovered a Cyberlink DVD in my collection with a piece of software that cured it. I will try that and check with MUX again.

I will change settings on config app.

XP SP2 doesnt help you here, since that only has the dvr-ms mux. That is enough to let you recording .dvr-ms files from your Nova T USB2.

What you need to install is the Cyberlink mux, which is required for converting .dvr-ms files to .mpg files. It doesnt come with Cyberlink PowerDVD player. It comes with some other DVD creation software, and Cyberlink TV recording software. I'd take a look here though: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=25630

OK, installed PowerDVD (started before seeing your previous posting) but it seems to have fixed it anyway.

With PowerDVD installed it now plays films and recordings made previously. Funnily enough it can now see more files. PC Explorer could see all files but before the listing on the MVP was missing some AVI and MPEG files. Weird!

Anyway, that seems better. MUX Checker still suggests no filter is installed though. I will check the link and see if I can find something to install with the necessary filter.

The Live TV fails still. (LOG file attached - still 3 MVP servers as unplugging them still seems to take an IP, so making it a nightmare, hope you don't mind). Anyway, this could in part be due to a weak single. Booster on order! PC GBPVR shows 100% quality, <20% strength, so that could be it? Works fine with WinTV though.

Any other suggestions?

Re MUX filter, what is a sure fired way to get the filter installed? What software should I download?

Many thanks....

I'm guessing it "seemed" to be working for you because you tried playing an old recording that happens to have been a .mpg files. The problem is only really with live tv or new recordings, since the Cyberlink mux is not available it is making .dvr-ms files which arnt playable on the MVP.

You'd have to download an install the Cyberlink mux to fix these problems. See the link I specified above to download a Cyberlink mux, then run:

regsvr32 c:\path\to\mpgmux.ax

I'd recommend v5.0.1307.

Excellent, working now on the PC. As I thought, reception isn't the best on all channels so the MVP fails as I am guessing its default just so happens to be one of those channels with poor strength signal.

I will install the booster to ensure the fault is only signal strength.

Many thanks for your help!
