I'm getting a ghosting problem playing back some recordings during motion sequences. The motion is not really fast like a hand waving but looks jerky like they are displaying incorrect field order.

gbpvr.exe (tried both System Default and Nvidia decoder settings) and pvrx2.exe (std and -fse) have the same problem. But the same recordings playback fine using VLC or Media Player.

The wierd thing is that it is very noticeable on 2 children's shows that I record in the mornings (a cartoon and a musical) but not in movie recordings.

To compare, I've recorded the same shows using both my PVR150 (mpg) and HVR3000 (dvr-ms) at the same time. Both recordings have the same problem but when I rewind back to replay the jerky scene straightaway it seems better. It seems almost like Purevideo is adapting to the scene the 2nd time round.

I'm using Purevideo (set to auto deinterlace VMR9) and 6600gt video card to output to both LCD and TV - jerkiness seen on both displays. Freshly installed XP SP2 with latest 163.71 forceware drivers and Purevideo 1.02.223.

CSY's registry tweaks from the wiki are in place: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Tips/...coderTweak

I've read the various thread on mpeg decoding and deinterlacing but they don't seem to describe this problem I'm getting. It seems almost that Nvidia is sensitive to the way some video streams are encoded.

Has anyone else experience this? I'm a bit stuck on what to try next. Any suggestions? Why is it happening only under GBPVR playback? I don't want use another decoder because it works really well on most of the recordings.

Does a screenshot show the problem?

yeah its like you said either the frames gets out of sync
or double deinterlaced
i know what your saying
pausing then starting again seems to help aswell
have you noticed the audio seems to go out a little aswell?

You didn't mention it, so I will ask: does it do the same thing when deinterlace isn't set to auto? Set it to things besides Weave and see what happens if you haven't already.
I bet Michael Bay uses GBPVR because it's awesome:

Hi,

This happens to me too, pausing then playing a number of times until it goes away can resolve, until the next time.
Pausing also doesn't show the problem, because each single frame of a recording appears to be fine.
It happens to me when using bob/weave/auto.

The only way I can describe the effect, is that if i were to display frames of a recording in normal order, i'd be playing 1,2,3,4,5 etc, when this happens, it's like i'm being shown 2,1,4,3,6,5,8,7 etc

it only happens with recordings, never downloaded material or dvds.

The only thing I aware of that sounds even remotely like that is the quartz.dll thingy.

does it only happen after a seek or pause? is so, try this update...
windowsxp-kb919071-x86-enu.exe
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919071

[it's a quartz update]

otherwise, set deinterlacing to 'video' or 'film' and see if it gets better...
[there were problems with 'auto' on some material]

done that
its almost like that sutter you are talking about but only less
i think its the new nvidia drivers but if i revert back to old one other things are worse you cant freckin win
its not on all recordings

the changing from auto isnt really a solution as i use fse its to hard to switch between
unless you know a short cut

I believe I have this problem also, but it only seems to happen when I pause, skip, FF or RW the program. If I play the program staight through all is fine. Usually if I do a 30 second skip foward or backward will fix the problem until the next time. It is a little hard to describe but it's like there is an extra frame in the video but that frame is blurry  I also have a nvidia 6600 and am using pure video. I think it did it with my ATI 9250, so it would not surprise me if it were pure video related. Just have not taken the time to try and pin point the cause of the problem.

this is exactly the problem I've had.

The only solution that worked for me was to start up in Safe mode and replace the quartz.dll with version 6.5.1.902 which is hopefully attached. A long description of how to do it is hidden somewhere in these forums.
