Not with the PVR150.

Drivers for the older cards (PVR250 etc) would capture the closed caption information, but thats not the case with the newer cards.

Sub - do you know if the drivers might in the future capture CC, or is there no chance this will ever happen (hardware issue or something)? I was just about to get a 150 but I often like to use the captions, so maybe a 250 is in order. Also, if I had a 250, would GB-PVR be able to show the captions via an MVP?

I saw somewhere else that it seems the 150 can do it if the driver supports it. I sent an email to Hauppauge to ask about the status of adding CC support to the driver. So I guess my question remains about GB-PVRs CC capabilities with a 250.

If GB-PVR can't show captions, is there any hardware/software combo that can be used with a MediaMVP that will get the MVP to show captions?

If Hauppauge's drivers for the 150 won't have CC support, is that something that can be done in software by GB-PVR? I saw somewhere that that's the MCE approach (software not driver). How likely would that feature appearing in GB-PVR be?

Thanks

FYI, Hauppauge's response:
----

[b Wrote:Quote[/b] ]Hello

The PVR 150 does not do closed captions at this time but it may have support
for that in later driver releases. The PVR 250 and 350 do not really support
it either with the WinTV2000 application. Closed captions only work when a
PVR 250 is used with Windows media center.
As far as the MVP goes we have never been able to test to see if closed
captions with work so I cannot say for sure if it will display them. The PVR
150 has the new remote.

Hi. I'm researching this forum since I'm looking for a PVR software that does what I want. One of the things I require is CC. There is a CC parser filter for directshow that somebody developed intended for Mytheatre, but since it is at the directshow level, should work with any source provided the player accepts custom directshow graphs. I must say, it works Ok for MyTheatre, but screws up the transport functions there, and I don't know if it is the filter or the app itself, but if you don't mess with the timeshift, CC renders beautifully, even through and Xcard TV out.

Sorry, my pint was... is there a way for GBpvr to use a custom graph generated from GraphEdit? If so, this app would meet my three approval criteria: WAF, DVP, CC...

That's a crock. Captions do work with a 250 or 350 and WinTV2000. It's a little work, so I think they didn't want to go to the trouble to walk you through it.

The drivers have to take the caption data from line 21 of the broadcast signal and store it in the MPEG file's GOP user areas. So if the drivers don't support this... no captions.

Sub, closed captions don't work in live preview mode.
