I managed to get closed captions to work on gbpvr using the intervideo nonCSS deocders and hauppuage hvr1600 and its been working out great for the last few months.
Lately I decided to setup a client gbpvr system so I can use it as front end in the living room.

At first I found the intervideo nonCSS decoder from the backend, made a copy of the .ax files and register the .ax files on the client machine. I set client GBPVR to use these decoders and setup the client to use streaming.

I tried it and all I get is a black screen, not even audio. I waited for bit, hoping it was just trying to buffer the stream but nada. *Firewalls disabled on both machines* I decided to use another video decoder on the client to test, the MPV decoder and that worked fine, I was able to see video and hear audio but no CC. I also tried ffdshow but it only play about few seconds of the recording before the playback freezes and forcing gbpvr to quit.

So I was wondering is there something else I need for the intervideo nonCSS decoders to work, does it need the hauppuage hardware card for it to work.

Server specs:
GBPVR 1.3.7
P4 2.4ghz
2x256MB total 512MB SDRAM pc133
Nvidia Geforce 6200 AGP 256MB
Hauppuage hvr-1600
40GB hard-drive
Recordings being stored on 2TB File/web/mail Server on local network

Client specs: *btw its a test system*
GBPVR 1.3.7
Celeron 1.4ghz
4x128MB total 512MB sdram pc133
Nvidia Geforce 4 mx420 64MB
Worn out seagate 80gb drive
Streaming I have also tried filesharing.

Any help appreciated.

~MP

p.s I'm also having issues with firewalls between the two machines, anyone know what ports need to be open?
