When this PC, the client comes up, a recording Status window comes up.

Not for me. On a client I get the tuners that are setup on the server.
I have had the full blank list of tuners but ISTR that was when the client started up before the server was online.

try registering filters or restarting recording service
or just restarting im not sure which one from memory fixes it
it will show the ones you have on the server and what they are recording if set up right
mine normally works but i get that sometimes
although i use streaming file sharing is only good for playback once everything ihas finished recording
do your recording etc playback ok?

Its all coming back to me now... Big Grin This was corrected in 1.0.16, but in release prior this just showed as above. mkenyon2, are you running the current release? If you are, then its probably the firewall software on one of the two machines getting in the way of the communication between the tray app and the recording service.

I'd go with my comment above about the firewall then.

TCP/IP communication is uses between these two components on the two machines. If it cant make this communication then the status is displayed that way.

What port(s) need to be opened?

OK, I've opened port 7968 (tcp) on both machines and the problem still exists. Both client and server are v1.0.16. Funny thing is, it used to work on v99.05 without opening any ports.
