Sometimes Video Lib Files play with black screen

This is one I've been messing with for a while. I've been having a problem with avi files in the Video Library menu playing with no video. I get sound but just a black screen. It's been intermittent so I've been holding out asking for help until I could pin down some kind of pattern. I figured out the pattern.

If I play a file that I have recorded in the Recordings menu (transcoded avi) before I play an avi file in the Video Library menu (avi Movies) I get a black screen from the file in the Video Library file when I play it. If I play the avi in Vid Lib first everything works fine. I can play files in both Recordings and Vid Lib with no problem.

I thought this was all related to the ATI Mux since it started when I started trying different muxes, but it will repeat for Cyberlink and Intervideo as well. Also doesn't matter if I use -fse or not. Live Preview is enabled.

Not real sure what other information to supply.

Does Windows Media Player play these files?

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

All of the files in question play fine with MPlayer.

Sorry, I'm not really sure. There is nothing obvious in the logs. It sounds consistent with decoder problems people have had in the past though, so I'd try installing some alternative decoder to the Divx one you're currently using.
