Anyone using the Vista View Saber DA-1N1-E Combo Tuner?

This is another ATSC/QAM/ANALOG card. The version I have is the PCIe card but they also have a PCI card. These are pretty much the same as the Hauppauge 1600/1800. Does anyone else have either of these cards.... and have you had any success in getting these working?

I dont remember seeing any comments from owners of this device in the past. There is a good chance it will be usable, but will most likely need a new card definition to be added to bda.ini (for the digital side of the device) and to direct.ini (for the analog side).

There is some info about doing this on the wiki, but if you have problems post back and I'll try to help you through it.

You'll probably find it easier to start with the digital side of the device.

I set up the BDA filter properties and was able to find the card right away. I am trying to scan for QAM channels... and in the little box it still says ATSC. Was there something I needed to change or add for it to show QAM or does it even matter? I cut and pasted the 1800 card (nonMCE) and then just changed the 2 lines. I then went in and added 1 channel to the list and did a scan of 138 channels. Nothing came up. At this point, do I need to edit my QAM.ini file at all or should the one that is included work?

Below are my log files of my scan... maybe you can see something I am missing.

Thats normal. It's still ATSC. ATSC is modulated over 8VSB for OTA digital. ATSC is modulated over QAM for digital cable.

You need to have "TUNING_SPECIAL=2", which I can see you have. Whether QAM works or not will depend on how the driver manufacturer has implemented support for QAM. Some device manufacturers use entirely different methods for implementing QAM tuning, and will only work via their proprietary private schemes. In these cases the device manufacturer would need to give me information about this tuning scheme for me to implement support for it.

This "TUNING_SPECIAL=2" scheme is known to work with the HVR1600, HVR1800, AverMedia M780 and some of the Dvico Fusion devices. I've not seen confirmation either way about whether other QAM capable devices work with this.

If you have had any success yet would you be kind enough to post the files you have modified? I will continue to try and get mine to work and will let you know what success I have.

I have a feeling that there will soon be many people with these cards since they have had such good reviews and are affordable.

GBPVR detects mine as PCI Saber as ViXS PureTV, but it doesn't work. Analog tunes with ol' dscaler.

I saw http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Hardw...aptureCard and graphedit finds ViXS PureTV Analog Video Capture and ViXS PureTV Capture, which I created as new entries in direct.ini using the original ViXS PureTV data, but that didn't work either. I've no idea how to tune the data itself.

Does anyone have the new Vista View cards going with GBPVR? Maybe the GBPVR in development already has this stuff built in?
