My first question should be really simple... How do I make it fullscreen, no windows, or start bar.

Second, I am using a HVR-1600 and have my wall cable going into the tuner, and my STB going into the S-video input.

I want to use the Tuner on the card for recording functions, and the s-video for watching tv tuned via the STB. I think I have GBPVR setup to do this now, but I don't know how to change input sources.

Otherwise GBPVR is running very well, but PVRX2 crashes on initial startup, don't know why? My computer is a 1ghz PIII, 512mb RAM, 80gb HDD,

to make it fullscreen, untick "run in windowed mode" in the config

I don't have the same setup as you but you need to define each input as a seperate tuner, . Unless you plan to use an irblaster to control the STB, create a device called STB that is configured to use the s-video input.

pvrx2: are you saying that it crashes that first time or every time? what graphics card to you have? if it is a very old card, you may have to use gbpvr.exe instead, which doesn;t use the new direct3d interface.

Thank you for replying. I beleive I configured the S-video the same way as the tuner, when I right click the GBPVR icon by the clock, and hit status, it shows S-video as sleeping. but for the selection it gave 3-component inputs, and 2 s-video, maybe i just have to select a different one. but how would i switch to the other tuner input to know it's working?

My main graphics card is a really old all-in-wonder 128 w/32mb. it uses OpenGL and Direct3D. i'm using it's component out to my TV, and the monitor jack is turned off. when I launch X2 it brings up the window, with nothing in the center, and when i move the window it's like it has captured an image of my desktop in the window (hence i beleive it is frozen) it doesn't do anythign after that.

thanks for the help!!!

You need to setup to capture sources for you HVR1600. One for the tuner, with epg source listing the channels available via the tuner, and one for the svideo with epg source listing the channels available for the set top box.

You dont directly tell it to change inputs, it just does it based on the channel you're trying to watch/record.

It sounds like you graphics card isnt up to PVRX2. Some people have managed to get their video card to work after initially getting this by installing later video card drivers. You could try the same, or stick with the old GBPVR.exe.

OK, I think I'm gettign what your saying based off what i've read from other's, let me just run this by you.

The STB reads the same channels as the tuner card is. the only reason i leave the stb hooked up is for On Demand features.

Now if I have two EPG's for both tuners, but all listings are identical it will automatically overlap them. and if it knows it's recording from one, it will allow watching from the other listing. Since the card's tuner is number one on the list it should default recording from that, right?

I'm gettign confused, but I tried adding just one channel for the s-video, cannel 99 which isn't for anythign else, now when i tried recording somethign from the tuner card, it said there are no other availible tuners for watching tv. I'll try it with the full EPG, but I'm not sure it's going to let me record from the tuner and watch from the s-video at the same time. I fear i've mistaken the capabilities of the hvr-1600, but we'll see....

thanks sub!

It definitely cant do that. You'd only be able to do one at a time.

If you are really lucky and there is a lot of clear QAM or ATSC in your area you might be okay.

By entering your zip or postal code you can see what you might get in your area on this useful link somone posted a couple of days ago

http://www.silicondust.com/wiki/hdhomerun/channels

Note some reviews say that the HDHR has the best QAM so there might be more here than you will find, but it matched what I have on my HVR 1600.

I've assigned it's own EPG, and it says no other tuner available. So I solved one problem, being able to input the s-video port, but unfortunately i can't use both at once... does this sound right for the hvr-1600?

Yes, or as mvallevand suggests above you could see if some of your channels available via clear QAM. You'd be able to do analog and digital at the same time with this one device.

Correct.
