I'm new to GB-PVR, but have been on a long search for a good software PVR/media center...whether free or purchased. I LOVE all the features that I am seeing and I have the PVRX2 working with it's basic feature set. Unfortunately, it looks like all the plugins I can find (well most of them) are for the older GBPVR .9X.X versions. I tried getting those plugins to work in the GBPVR app that came with the 1.1.5 version with no luck. I understand that time is needed to develop new plugins for the new version (which I look forward to!!) I am wondering, in the meantime, if there is a place to get the older version 0.95.16 or which ever was the latest release that supports the odler style plugins. I would like to have a fully-functional system with all the skins and plugins I was seeing out there for the older version. Does anyone have any thoughts?

I am planning on donating to this once I know this will work, I'm no free-loader Smile Thanks for a great product!

BurnDVDX2;Cinema;GameZone;GraphRecorder;MovieWiz;MusicLibrary2;
RSSReaderX2;SearchWiz;SkipTool;SS2Recorder;TVListings;VideoArchive;
WebCams;XRecord (although I am using some of these with the current version, the wiki hasn't been updated to reflect that they work with 1.1.5 as well as 1.0.16 - I will do that when I get home if no one else does)
In addition, Weather and MVPTrayIcon are listed as working with 1.1.5

With respect to the older plugins, the functions of some may be available in one of the plugins above (although I am hoping UbuRadio is updated for the new version soon). Which plugins are you interested in?

welcome!

What specifc plugins are you trying to use or more precicely, what functionality are you after?

If you did manage to get 99.x and installed loads of plugins, you could run into problems and some of the plugin developers may no longer support the older version.

Also, it would be rather frustrating for Sub (the author) if you started reporting problems with 99.x that were fixed ages ago.

I would encourage you to stick with 1.1.5 and wait for the right plugins but if not, then I'm sure one of us may be able to help with your request.

Thanks for the responses. I am a developer myself so I understand gEd's comment about 99.x bugs. A few of my major wants in a PVR are:
1. DVD Ripper built in (major want, not nec a need)
2. Weather
3. Skins (and what I think was previously called Appearance plugin??) I don't want tons by any means, I'm just looking to add some personality to the menus, etc. As much as I hate to say it, the MCE skins look pretty good.

Those are the plugins I know I would love to have and use. I have to make some hardware decisions for the computer and a remote, etc which are based on which software I am going to use. Is there an email list for notifying of new versions, "supported" plugins, etc as they are posted?

on a side note, is there a place to see a list of all the plugins/skins for certain versions (that you "support") listed out with a description? I might just be missing it.

I think that Default BurnDVDX2 New release available v1.0.1.0 is a dvd ripper. At least it burns DVD's and allows you to use compskip to eliminate the commericals and has a very nice format. As noted, there is a weather plugin. For skins, I would suggest you try the community skin. It has so many variations that you are sure to get a look that you want.

I would also try cinema: you can set it up so the program downloads the movies playing at your local theatres on a weekly basis so that you can use GBpvr to look up what movies are playing in your area.

From this link http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/Plugin or from the link "wiki" at the top of the forum page, you can get a list of plugins. The Community Skin is listed under the next category, "skins"

1. not sure if the old dvd ripper will work. It looks like Sub wrote a new DVD ripper as a plugin demo, not sure where it is tho. http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ght=ripper

2. works in pvrx2 (and looks good)
3. Install communityskin3 and skinhelper. you can configure the skin with your remote and it has a good MCE style skin.

There is a plugins thread where you can subscribe to particular threads. Also look a "recent changes" on the wiki.

I would go for a cheap C2D cpu (2180) 1GB (XP) 2GB Vista, 500GB HD. Tuner and graphics requirements depend on what TV source you plan to use (High def or SD). If noise is a factor, get a passively cooled graphics card and a case that will allow you to fit a good quality (bigish) CPU cooler with a quiet fan.

good luck
