So what's the deal with NVTV based cards?

Sorry, all the threads on this topic are quite old, so I wasn't sure if NVTV based cards were supported or not. Just found this card:

Very cheap, says it has hardware encoding, which is usually "the" biggy. I'm not too thrilled with the ADS cards I posted about (very grainy pic via the tuner, I guess others have had the same experience) so I'm seriously considering returning them and trying one of these, if they work?

I am not sure that they are supported and I am not aware of anyone here who uses one.

the direct.ini refers to an nvidia card but I don;t think it is the one you are refering to.

Why not just get a Hauppauge PVR-150 that is (or has been) used by probably 70% of the people here. I don;t think they cost much more do they?

I wouldnt bother buying one. I dont own, but there have been a few reports of it these devices not working. They also no longer sold by nvidia.

Sounds like a good price to me although I know we all have different budgets.
For the sake of ~$25, just wait until you can afford a tuner that you know will work rather than risking more $ on something that may not.

There many here who have wasted loads of cash on our PVR systems.

My first tuner was a PVR-350 that I payed the equivalent of about $240 for when I could have got the 150 for less than 1/2 that price at the time.

Really your question is:
"What's the cheapest analogue tuner that give good picture quality and works well with gbpvr".

i suspect it's the 150.

btw: I think they do different versions (check the wiki) some with remote / ir blaster, others without.

Not worried about the remote/blaster, only need the card(s). Apparently NVTV cards (supposedly) work in mediaportal, xp media center 2005, and vista ultimate, so maybe a good fit for a "secondary" pvr box down the road, but personally I'd prefer to stick with GB-PVR myself...at least for now!

What can I say sub, I enjoy a challenge The ADS card was a challenge to get working, but I did (unfortunately it just turns out that it has a crappy coax tuner in it though). Figured it would be interesting to try to get one more card added to the "supported" list Wish the ATI cards weren't so expensive, would love to try one of them.
