I just would like to know what software GBPVR uses for it's playback of live tv. Is it media player?

It uses DirectShow. If I'm correct media player also uses DirectShow.

Yep, what he said. It uses Directshow. These are underlying media playback components that are available on Windows. These same components are used by most Windows applications that play or record video files or music file.

Oh ok, I thought it was something as simple as Media Player. However, I wanted to ask Sub, if you came across the Media Player Classic - Home Cinema?

It supposedly does renderless EVR and VMR renderless and is called VMR Custom Presenter. It also has an option called "Lock back buffer", which helps in keeping playback smooth.

I don't know what it can be used for, if anything at all. However, I just had to mention it to you.

Media Player Classic is an application like GB-PVR that uses Directshow for doing it's playback. GB-PVR also does EVR and VMR9 Custom Allocator/Presenter.

I dont know if it'll help you, but you try setting <VMR9LockBackBuffer>true</VMR9LockBackBuffer> in config.xml to see if it achieves the same thing as MPC.

Would it be the same syntax for EVR or does this not apply to it?

the only mode he has that GB doesn't is a Custom alloc. EVR mode...[like vmr9custom]

basically it's just a custom version of media player classic..w/resume,etc..
