Firstly I am new to GBPVR so appologies! I have tried ALL the others and (Meedio, snapstream, Sage TV, Myth Tv and MCE) and all have their good points and bad points...... however the only fault I have found so far on my limited use of GBPVR revolves around my 5 year old daughter!

she has a MVP for simplicity in her bedroom and the server is set up to use video library which is great except in order to play rather than highlight the thumbnail and press play she has to click it then select the file *.avi.... not too tricky you say, but she still hasn't got it. I have tried various plug ins, but all I want s a simple way to play from video library.... any one any ideas or am I going about it all th ewrong way.... I am not bothered about synosis etc as she knows what she wants to watch she just wants to select from the thumbnail.

thanks in advance..

Is her viewing collection static? If so, you might want to enable EasyView and set the specific shows there.

If you're needs are more involved than that, you might try MovieWiz. If she can arrow thru the list and find the show she wants, she simply needs to hit the Play button on the remote to view the entry.

If you mean static in that it is always the same then yes, it contains about 50 Divx movies in folders on their own (not Video TS) with cover art, so in video library each cover shows in th emain menu. I have enabled Easyview but can not seem to find any clear instructions on the wiki. The instructions I find on the forum relates to the config xml, but do I not need to see easyview in the main menu first?

thanks

The EasyView screen was only available in the old version of the application (GBPVR.exe), and I decided not to implement it when I did the rewrite (PVRX2.exe).

Sorry, I did not realize sub did not implement in PVRX2.

So again, you might try MovieWiz. Once you get her movies loaded, then it should be fairly simple for her to operate. If you still see she's having difficulty, let me know and I can try to accomodate.

thanks for your help, I see where you were going, but I still would rather have "press play on video library" as this is so much cleaner than having synopsis she doent need etc....

I can live with her having to select the avi, but it does seem it shouldn't be too difficult to add a code for the play button (like I am expert! :-))

thanks again I would send an image of the screen but a) I am sure you know what I mean about the thumbnails in video library and b) I am not sure how to insert the picture!!!

Sorry, I'm clear if you mean my Video Library or JavaWiz's Moviewiz in that post (you mention both).

In the Video Library, when you're in thumbnail view, you can just select the movie then press the 'OK/Enter' button on your remote to start playback. Its sounds like you're asking for just that, but want the 'play' button on your remote instead of the 'ok' button. Is that correct?

now I am confused!

I have the default "video library" enabled and when I select it from the main menu I get 12 thumbnails more if I scroll down (actually they are cover art taken automatically from the same folder as the avi as long as they are called Folder.jpg) when you press select when any Thumbnail is highlighted it takes you to a sub menu that has the avi in it, whereby you highlight this and pres select which plays the movie.

have I set this up all wrong? I should mention this is all on a MVP and not the main PC, if this makes a difference especially as it is transcoding the file as opposed to playing it natively.

thanks

That would be the behaviour I'd expect if you've got the files stored in sub directories. If you dont want to have to go into the sub directory, then dont use sub directories - instead just put all your daughter's files in the one directory.

You can still have a thumbnail per video file. For a movie called Shrek3.mpg it would look for an image called Shrek3.jpg.
