I am using Powerline Ethernet from the computer to the TV (utility shows 65Mbps). I also suspected the network, but an XP machine that is physically next to the Vista machine and connected to the same router has no issues. I have been using it for a few weeks before I got the Vista PC and had no issues. I will continue to experiment. Maybe it is some crazy issue with the cables.

From the log it looks like you might be transcoding an xvid to mpeg2. Do you have any normal mpeg-2 files? If not once the file starts playing, hit pause for a several seconds to see the transcoding delay is an issue.

I tried hitting pause - same problem. I will try converting to mpg and then playing back. Thanks for the help... this is a tough one...

guydot,

I'll be interested to see if you ever find a solution. I was having the same problems and eventually gave up on Vista. You can see the thread where I was working on it here: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=28503.

Have you tried connecting via standard CAT5? - just to make sure it's not a network issue...

Hey, if you are interested in trying it, I just read this: http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthre...stcount=34 - Seems the beta version of Vista SP1 is solving the MVP problems. I'd try it if I had an extra machine.

That is Sage specific. Really with mvpmc I don't feel there is a specific problem with Vista.

mvallevand,

With all do respect, this is the second person (at least) who is able to make it work correctly under another version of Windows when it won't work under Vista, and the OS is the ONLY difference. I don't think there is anything wrong with GBPVR, mvpmc, the network, the MVP or anything else besides the OS. It is the only variable. I know that the link was to a Sage forum. The fact is, even though the software is different, the concept is the same, the hardware is the same, and the issues are the same. You have two pieces of software that are trying to stream video across a network to an MVP which is connected to the TV. It works with every version of Windows except for Vista. In fact, we could say the exact same thing about the Hauppauge software, MythTV and any other piece of software that does the same thing. They are all experiencing the same problem and the problem is always specific to Windows Vista. I'm glad that you got it to work in your setup. I don't know why it works, but the fact is it must, or else you wouldn't be happy with it. As for the rest of us, we are trying to find answers where ever we can...even if it means learning a thing or two from the experiences of people using different software. You can take a Honda and a Ford, two entirely different cars, but if you put diesel gas in them both, they are going to have the same problems.

B1ackh013, I'm not saying that there isn't a problem with a Vista driver or something like that, but this problem is not a general OS, GBPVR or mvpmc related. Also If you were to read through this forum there are many messages from users can't get their MVP to work on XP. Does that imply there is an XP issue? IMHO the same answer applies to Vista.

I also can't believe the the two of you who can't get it to work are alone , nor that I am the sole person that can run great on Vista.

I am not one for recommending tweaks, but this one did make a little difference for me

netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
