I saw on a recent witch-hunt for dll's for a particular plugin that there are quite a few duplicate DLL's in the main gbpvr and subdirectories. It all works, so presumably this is OK, but I thought I'd highlight it. If any shoudl NOT be duplicated, as they are now ina 3rd party or plugin dir under plugins, pls let me know!

btw sub, just an observation only for the patch sticky, there's been a number of PVRX2 updates 22nd, 25th (2x), 26th and Nativeutilties.dll updates (22nd/26th) since the last one on the 19th Nov.

Cheers,
k.

A lot of this has been addressed in 1.1.5 making plugins more self contained. Previously is a plugin developer like me wanted another DLL file (like th commonGBPVRUtilities provided by jeff) It had to be loaded to the gbpvr directory.

As of 1.0.16 there was a gbpvr\plugins\common directory that could be used for this purpose.

And finally as part of 1.1.5 the gbpvr\plugins\pluginName can now also be used.

AFAIK the order is gbpvr\plugins\pluginName, gbpvr\plugins\common then gbpvr

This "should" be sorted out with later releases of plugins, and give plugin developers more opportunity to create their own common dlls or use library dlls without affecting other plugins (which was possible in pre 1 version gbpvr).

A clean install of GB-PVR shouldnt contain any of these duplicates.

Enabling the web server will cause a few binaries to be copied to web\bin directory since this is required by the .net embedded web server stuff, so this can be safely ignored.

The others were probably created by probably due to plugins you've installed requiring DLL dependencies as psycik indicates above. Plugin developers no longer need to do this, but it'll probably take them a while to clean it up.

Correct. I only post links in the survival guide to patches I deem important. There is no point in posting links to all patches - many of these are just not important, and the users can get them with the next release (or if a later patch of the same file is important enough to make the survive guide thread).

OK, so I can probably delete all dll's in GBPVR which are duplicated in other dirs EXCEPT web/bin?

What about the 3rd party dir, is that one of yours?

No worries... if it's failing, folks will find them eventually...

Its a bit hard to answer a blanket statement like that, and I couldnt tell you what that'll do to plugins you have installed. I dont personally use any plugins.

If you want a clean install with no duplicates, why dont you backup your GB-PVR directory (just in case, and to retain the gbpvr.db3/config.xml), then uninstall the app, delete the gbpvr directory, then reinstall the app and restore your gbpvr.db3/config.xml.

Yes, but it only contains ffmpeg. The CommonGBPVRUtilities.dll you've highlighted in that directory is part of some plugin you've installed.
