After changing from hibernate ("suspend to disk" just to be clear) to standby things work much better. I have not seen any failed recordings since I changed to standby.

well, my problem returned 2 days ago, but I didn't have time to write it up.

obviously, after having restarted the machine, it returned yet again today, at 7am I see the same error in the log

Code:
2007-11-29 06:59:00.158 INFO [5] Found new programme requiring recording: The District 2007-11-29 06:59:00.252 VERBOSE [5] Changing to channel (GBPVR.Backend.Common.NullTunerController): 60 2007-11-29 06:59:00.268 VERBOSE [5] Requesting IRecordingSource to start recording: F:\Recordings\Scheduled\The District\The District_20071129_07000800.mpg 2007-11-29 06:59:00.268 VERBOSE [5] DirectRecordingSource about to start recording oid:2 channel:60 2007-11-29 06:59:08.299 ERROR [5] Error starting recording: System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.

just above this is a database lock condition, how it's related, I'm not sure

Code:
2007-11-29 04:06:23.768 ERROR [9] Unexpected error removing expired previous episodes: System.Data.SQLite.SQLiteException: The database file is locked database is locked

logs attached, and I've run a memtest as well, but nothing has come up. It would seem that I was able to run a little more than a week before the error came up again.

I am not running with suspend/resume, the box is just humming along, normally. Sad

I saw the same error as was posted on post #1
Code:
2007-11-30 23:47:06.687 INFO [13] Commercial Detection has completed. 2007-12-01 00:00:59.953 ERROR [11] Unexpected error in ConversionProcessing.WorkerThread(): System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: Length cannot be less than zero. Parameter name: length

the error repeated exactly every minute just like in tgp's original log.

the pc would have been doing some encoding at the time using Pastro's queuit.exe and mencoder.

So, is this perhaps the root cause? rather than the memory error?

Do you mean is transcoding the root-cause? I'm not sure but it is interesting that you were getting this error when trying to convert to divx through the video library (in the other thread) so I suspect it may be something to do with this.

This problem has continued to plague my system, always at this 7am recording, the first of the day after the EPG reload.

Tonite, I've removed GBPVR, the Happ drivers/apps, and reloaded everything. Things are now up and operational/recording, so I will report back within a week, one way or another.

After I restarted things as noted in above post, it occurred to me that one thing that happens prior to 7am is the EPG update. (4am normally)

I forced an update thru the GUI, and recording service crashed right after; this time a different error, and in particular, a show was being recorded at the time...

Code:

I'm still seeing this error, over the holidays I reloaded windows xp, loaded just the H-software, GBPVR - things worked fine for 2 days, loaded Slimm at that point, ok for another 2-3 days. Today, I see the same condition, recordings not happening, and error in the recording logs, unable to read/write memory.

In the past I've run mem test throughout a night. But it's not clear to me I have a memory error here, maybe I do, but I don't think I've ever gotten a real thought back from the group regarding what this problem might be.

Logs attached, and any advise about what I might do to help get closer to the culprit, I'm game.

As I said, it's a "fresh" system, with XP, GBPVR 115, 3 MVP clients, 2 H-PVR boards in it, a 350 and a 150. Originally this same system worked aok for about 3 months, and during that time I added an extra capability here/there, weather, netradio, etc., that sort of thing, finding all kinds of good things to "bolt on" to the basic GBPVR before this memory "error" started showing up. But today, it's just GBPVR, MVP, and Slimm GBPVR. None of the other extras.

Help greatly appreciated.

p.s. because of log file size, I removed the MVP logs, perhaps they are not needed for this and they are quite large.

Regards,
Tom

See if this patch makes any difference: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=2...stcount=39

The thread doesnt specifically relate to your problem, but there was one extra thing fixed in that build which might help.
