Hi,
I was wondering could some further aspect ratio options be made available. For some stupid reason the BBC broadcast 4:3 shows in pillarbox format in a 16:9 frame on DVB-T (strangely on DVB-S they simply broadcast a 4:3 frame).
I've attached an image suggesting the additional aspect ratios. They are:
a) crop the black bars at the left and right (shown as stripy in the picture). Stretch the remaining picture to fit the full 16:9 frame (effectively outputing a 4:3 frame. Many widescreen TVs offer their own 4:3 corrections).
b) crop the black bars at the left and right. Crop a little bit from the top and bottom of the remaining frame and stretch to 16:9 (effectively giving a 14:9 image).
c) [not pictured] same as b) but have a non-linear stretch to keep the aspect ratio in the middle 80% of the screen okay and stretch the outside 20% more. (my Philips TV does this, it's actually really effective, but could be difficult to achieve in GB-PVR, dunno ).
Thanks
