I noticed when PVRX2 crashes during LiveTV playback of the analog side of the HVR-1600, after I reset the recording service, that I get no Video/Audio on LiveTV/Recording untill the machine is rebooted for that tuner to start working. I'll have to turn on logging to find out about the initial error, but it would also be nice to have a way of detecting PVRX2 shutting down and the stop the recording of LiveTV and reinitializing the tuner.

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

It does do this already. It can take about 30 seconds to do this if PVRX2 dies or is shutdown uncleanly though.

It doesnt specifically do this, and in theory doesnt need to. This supposed to happen automatically in the drivers. There is also no interface for reinitialising a device - you just have to use it and trust the drivers have lived up to their end of the bargain.

It's weird, In this state, GBPVR doesnt work but WinTV does.

-Well I'll have to make the logs....

I have the HVR 1600 and crashing of PVRX2 during livetv is not even something I would think of relating, perhaps the Vista drivers are more stable?

In any guess I would say 5-10 times since August I couldn't open the capture device with GBPVR, but at least twice I simply went into VirtualDub and opened it there and afterwards it worked. The other times I had to reboot, but since I usually only reboot on patch Tuesday and sleep I think the HVR 1600 drivers are very stable. I made some noise a few months ago, but that was about the number of errors in the .ts file and not about the drivers not working. I'd still like to see the HVR 1600 capture with the quality of the HDHR.
