Hey,

I assume the main problem is jagged fonts in MusicLibrary 2 when run under PVRX2???

I am experiencing the same thing, but I'm almost sure that this is caused by MusicLibrary 2 being a "GBPVR-style" plugin (and using the old-style rendering of the fonts).

I'm pretty sure the only way to solve this is an update (real PVRX2-version) of the MusicLibrary 2 plugin (I think that's one of the changed Sub made to PVRX2, to render the fonts at "native" resolution, but it seems it only works on the new style plugins).

Exactly, I assume the display is being upscaled to a higher resolution, resulting in "Jaggies".

Yes, you are correct here as well.

Psycik has worked on a PVRX2 version but I believe there are some sticking points holding up the transition.

If you both are using HD displays, maybe using the Community-WS as a foundation may be better suited. The xmls are scaled to display at 1280x720
and the font sizes are also bumped up. From feedback, the fonts even look better than PVRX2 xml's.

It won't work without a little tweaking, but maybe it is worth a shot?

Maybe I should consider bumping the resolution of all the legacy xml's.

Thanks for the support once again. I finally got to doing some TV watching rather than tweaking TV for a change.
I was under the impression community3 and its bundle were all widescreen compatible. That probably explains the jagged lines in my display? I didn't realise I'm supposed to use a WS set of plugins for my display. I'm trying to test my TVs 1080p mode, hence the high res. So far it's been stable with powerstrip loading on startup doing the little adjustments ATI and catalyst graphics can't handle.
Well I'm running TV listings, Weather, SearchWiz2, Movie Wizard, Music Library2, RSS Reader, Calculator, Skin, BurnDVDX2, Skip Tool. The last two I haven't really experimented with. All show up fine in PVRX2 except Music Library 2. Even calculator is ok though its colours look plain.

woah. I suddenly just got two of your responses as if I was replying to the wrong thread. Yes it would make sense to be designing these plugins to be compatible with 720p and 1080p for WS and HD displays as most large screens are heading towards this. I'm a little confused about the 'real' PVXR2 issue. I didn't know there were two versions floating around. How hard would this change be. I'm quite happy to scrub my plugins directory and start afresh, as it's quite messy at the moment. I did try a PVXR2 basic plugin set a little while back, that wasn't too bad to look at, 'green orb' and all. I'd like to keep my current community3 skin adjustments if possible. Most of the 'PVXR2 basic' skin icons can also be got to using the active switching through the 'skin' plugin.
As an aside, do any of you know if the XMLTV extra info such as images and prog star ratings etc. are supposed to come through in the TV listing with community3?
Anyway feel free to fire away any experimental ideas as I'm not too sure of the directory structure to change and what I can safely delete. I attached a pic of my dirs if you an make suggestions.

I'm a little confused about the 'real' PVXR2 issue. I didn't know there were two versions floating around.

I grouped those two statements together to answer them together.
As of GB-PVR verion 1.0+, there is a new User Interface (UI) that changed the way plugins were skinned and rendered. The executable file for the new UI for the time being is PVRX2.exe. Those wishing to run under the "old" UI use the executable GBPVR.exe. (My speculation is that when the "old" UI is officially dropped from the code, the executable will be renamed back to GBPVR.exe, but I digress).

The new UI is more suited for up-scaling since all screen elements are defined as % of screen. That is why "PVRX2" plugins and skins can be used at higher resolutions. The older UI plugins are still using a fixed size, and are still set at 720x480. (The old UI Community-WS is 1280x720).

Sam Wrote:How hard would this change be. I'm quite happy to scrub my plugins directory and start afresh, as it's quite messy at the moment.

No scrubbing of the plugins directory will be needed. Nothing we do will effect that. If you wish to do some housekeeping, that is your decision.

That is one of the goals of the CommunitySkin installer method and Skinplugin, is to try to protect or "Save" user tweaks.

Of all the plugins you listed, only Music Library 2 and Calculator use the "old" UI. So a simple test will be easy enough.

You may wish to ask a user named "roy". He provided the TV Listings skin and has been active in the TV Listings support thread. He may know the answers to that one. I don't use that plugin myself to give you an acurate answer.

So would it be safe to delete the folders in the skin directory if I only use pvrx2.exe? what do I need to move to the 'skins' dir from 'skin' to make music library2 look right ? I seem to have music library2 duplicated in many places between these two skin folders in gbpvr.

No it wouldn't be safe to do that. You also have a couple of music library2 directories as sub also uses that name for his music plugin. The difference between his and mine, is that mine doesn't have the space.

Unfortunately for at least the next 6 months, this will have to be how it is for ML2, until I can finish off development of ML3 - which will be a "pure" pvrx2 plugin. Rather than ML2 which is a gbpvr plugin that works within pvr2.

Here is what you can clean out of the "Skin" folder...

_CoreImages (Not needed)
Community (Obsolete, only if you use GBPVR.exe only)
GBPVR Basic (if you no longer wish to use this skin)
PVRX2 Basic (if you no longer wish to use this skin)

Out of the "Skin2" folder
PVRX2 Basic (if you no longer wish to use this skin)

You should end up with "Blue" and "Community3" in both folders. Do not bother removing anything within those folders.

If you wish to give this a try....

this is a 1280x720 MusicLibrary2 skin that runs under Community3

extract this file to "..\devnz\gbpvr\skin\Community3\MusicLibrary2"

Popup boxes will appear small, but that can be fixed later. (Those come from another directory).

That was superb! It looks so much more professional. Like the icing on the cake. Thanks for that Fatmando. Can you advise me of one last thing on this post, where is that little image (bottom left) in my misic library coming from. It seems to pop up on most of my tracks for some reason. Searched my music folders and I can't find it anywhere. Attached. If I knew how to get other images like that to my tracks then I'd be really chuffed.
