After trying out Sage and Beyond, I'm giving GB-PVR a try. I've had it installed for about a week, and have it working with a couple issues.
The main problem is studdering video when sending it out to my 1080i HDTV via component. It plays perfectly when I'm viewing it on my 19" CRT monitor, or when viewing it with other media players (media player classic or widows media player), on my HDTV. But every combination of video decoder, renderer and audio decoder causes jerky playback on the HDTV. I installed the trial version of the NVIDIA PureVideo decoder, but can't tell if it's running. Should there be a choice for it in the configuration options? I just have the same option I had before installing it, the regular NVIDIA video decoder.
This is both in GB-PVR and PVRX2. I'm not doing any audio decoding, just sending the stream via SPDIF to my A/V receiver for decoding. I'm aware that this is a common issue, but I haven't found a fix yet.
The second minor issue is padding. Is there a way to negatively pad a recording? I record the 5:30 and 6:00 news, and want to end the 5:30 news one minute early, and start the 6:00 news a minute early. I could do this with Beyond, but can't see and option for it in GB.
Apart from these two issues, I think the software is fantastic. It's been stable as a rock, and has all the features I need. It's recording everything I ask of it, and other than having to view the recordings with other media players, it's about perfect.
Thanks in advance for any help/advice.
