Do Haupauge cards share the same device? Say pvr150, pvr250 and 350? How is the instance set? What about cards from the different manufacturers. Are these both set to #1

I have a PVR150 and a PVR350 setup and works like a champ (now). The 150 is set to #1 and the 350 is #2. The PVR150 is in slot 2 (pci) and the PVR350 is in slot 3. I suspect this make a difference. If I swap the instances around it does not record properly. Why is this? Should they be set to the same instance?

I think the capture device numbers in GBPVR work as follows:
1. If you have different devices, then set each device to #1
e.g If you have a PVR-250 and a Nova-T digital, each should have device set to #1
2. If you have 2 or more of the same device then they are numbered #1, #2 etc.
e.g If you have two PVR-250 then they will be numbered devices #1 and #2

BUT ALSO:
1. Some cards share the same device driver so if you have a 150 and a 350 (I think they share the same device driver) then they should be set #1 and #2 as in your system.
2. From reading around in the forum, the device numbers seem to need to follow their physical locations on the PCI bus. So, as you say, your device #1 is in slot 2 and device #2 is in slot 3.

Hope this helps - if I am incorrect I am sure someone else will help out. This isn't a straight forward area to me and I have been doing some research into it for my own needs.

What smeghead said is mostly correct. The one minor difference is below:

[b Wrote:Quote[/b] ]1. Some cards share the same device driver so if you have a 150 and a 350 (I think they share the same device driver) then they should be set #1 and #2 as in your system.
Should be: "Some cards share the same device name..."

A PVR150 and PVR350 need to initialized differently, so in this case its important the device numbers are correct. For two PVR250, they initialized the same - so not as important.

The thing that i'm still trying to work out is if I have one PVR-250 card and I want to record:
1. From a cable box using an IR Blaster that outputs on analogue channel 39
2. The 5 normal analogue channels in the UK. Analogue channels 48, 55, 59, 62 and 65 in my area.
(This is so other users can use the cable box at the same time as using this recording source)

Each time I try a set up it allows me to set recordings on both sources at the same time without showing a conflict.

Any help appreciated

Yes, this is a known bug. Its fixed in the release I'm currently trialling.
