I have an Aver media M780 card that is supposed to receive digital cable programs. I can get the standard cable without a problem. I have tried in the configure program to set up a new configuration use the Aver media M780 'bda recording plug-in'

I can not get any digital stations. I have tried with the 'avermedia m780' and the 'avermedia m780 qam' source plug-in. The last tried was the 'avermedia m780'

I am attaching a log file of my last attempt.

Please Help.

I only saw a scan for the "AverMedia M780" in those logs. You will need to set the device to the QAM version and rescan. You may want to try the us-cable.ini file located at http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=2...stcount=25

You will need to replace your gbpvr\BDA\ATSC\qam.ini with it.

I used the new .ini file as suggested. I replaced the previous .ini file with this new one and gave it the old files name.

did the rescan using the avermedia m780 qam

attached is the new log file of the result

still do not have digital channels, any more suggestions?

Those logs show that no signal is found. Have you downloaded the AverMedia Center? Apparently the card will not tune QAM without it: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=2...ostcount=3

I tried loading the AverMedia Center program. The program itself could not find unencryped QAM channels. Also it made no difference in the GBpvr program.

I read the forum note that you refer to. It was helpful but I had my doubts about needing the appication installed to make another appiclation work. When Aver media center is installed, it installs Aver drivers windows certified 2.5.0.19 - I think this is the real reason for the install of the Aver Media Center. However, the drivers can be installed alone without the Aver Media Center program.

newer but beta drivers (both 86 and 64 bit versions) are avalable up to 2.5.0.22 from: ftp.aver.com login name:beta password:betatest

These beta drivers also did not work.

Since I have tried to get the QAM channels my system has developed a new problem. The lower number channels have poor reception and most channels now have jerky play. Some how the attempt at receiving higher number channels has caused a problem.

Reading other forums, it seems the Aver M780 has some problems with QAM.

If anyone has suggestions please reply.

my system:
AMD ATHLON 64 X2 DUAL CORE 3800+, BUS SPEED 201 MHZ
ASUSTEK COMPUTER A8N5X VER 1.0, CHIPSET NVIDIA NFORCE4 REV A3, BIOS versioon 1003
Memory Corsair (VS512MB400), DDR 2048 MBYTES DUAL CHANNEL
Nvidia 7600 video card
Viewsonic 20" lcd monitor

If that program couldn't find any stations then you won't with GB-PVR. Do you have a cable attached to the digital tuner? If so, try swapping the cables on the digital and analog to see if it is a cable issue.

I do not believe it is not a cable problem, I get standard analog cable now with the Aver M780.

Should I split the coax and put part on the other coax input? I though the other input was for digital OTA input only.

Yes, split the cable. QAM is digital. If you do not have a cable connected to the digital port, you will not get QAM.

That scan show it still can't find a signal. Try restoring your original qam.ini and rescanning.
