Did a search of the forums and am about to look more at the Wiki -- and before I do I want to be sure that my Slingbox Pro and gbpvr are being used the right way...

I have the Slingbox Hooked up to my CableTV signal and it is being used as a tuner.

I view it from SlingPlayer on my PC

My PC does *not* have any kind of TV-Card... just the LAN -- and from there I get the SlingPlayer to take the signal from the Slingbox Pro.

So, my question(s):

1. Can gbpvr work as a dvr with this scenario?
2. Can gbpvr work with the "tuner" screen that I see on the screenshots?
3. Is there a good source for more information on this combo? (I've been over to slingcommunity and the folks there are terrific, but I thought I'd ask here too).

Thanks for the help,
Pete

GB-PVR cant use your Slingbox instead of a capture card.

Grrr! Sad

Ok... just so I better understand things:

1. GB-PVR *has* to have a TV-Card (which you're calling a capture card) is that correct?

2. GB-PVR can't pause/record from a window that is playing? Is that correct?

Thanks for the reply! I know you're the chief-guy here... so it is kinda neat to hear it from you! Smile

Thanks again,
Pete

Yes, if you want to be able to record or watch TV.

You can use it without one if you just want to listen to music or watch video files you've got on your machine.

Only it's own window, showing video it's sourced from devices it knows how to use. It doesnt know anything about windows in other applications.
