Hi,

by the time I switched to a widescreen display, I noticed that the display area of the PVRX2 window does have the same aspect ratio as the monitor. Thats 1.6 at the moment - pretty wide compared to PAL recordings here.

Ho do I change that? The settings on the playback tab in the configuration app seemed to be ignored...

You need to set your TV Shape correctly in the config app, make sure you're not got the video decoder set to 'system default', then while viewing the video press F7 to make sure you're in the 'auto' mode. You should ok after that.

Hmm,

in the config application Television Shape is set to "Standard (4x3)". I changed that to "16:9" (no difference in behaviour btw.) and switched the MPEG-2-Playback from "System default" to "MPEG Video Decoder".

Pressing F7 during playback I selected "Auto" and "Fill". But there is no difference: both fill the whole PVRX2 window with the video. "Pillarbox" comes close, but is not perfect (the new monitor is not 16:9 but 16:10!). The main reason is that the PVRX2 window follows the monitors aspect ratio.

I'm assuming you're playing 4:3 video? If so, when you have it set to 'auto' do you get black bars on the left and right?

Have you tried decoders other than "MPEG Video Decoder"?

Yes, it is 4:3 video. In "Auto" I've got no bars on the left and right. So finally I also tried the "Microsoft MPEG-2 Video Decoder" and got the bars.

Thanks! Does the other one just lack the feature?

And: Is there any chance of zooming into a already letterboxed 4:3 video?
I've seen
<AspectRatioMode name="Remove LetterBox" ratio="0,-0.125,1,1.125" />
in config.xml, but stepping through with F7 does not offer this mode.

It depends on the video renderer you use. Only the VMR9 ones can do these aspect ratios with negative values. EVR and Overlay with skip these.

Thanks, cool: using "VMR9 Custom" with "Remove Letterbox" 4:3 letterboxed videos look really great!
