Hi,

Absolutely flawless install and smooth configuration of the new version. Very nice work. One regression I have found... which was actually fixed in a patch release of the last version. The problem has reappeared:

The music library's shuffle function, invoked by hitting the Play button over a directory, does not appear to work at the "root" of GBPVRs configured directory structure when the target is a network directory. For example I have a music location configured using the config app:

[Remote] -> \\Network Computer\Shared Music

\Shared Music\ contains multiple nested folders to be included in the randomized playlist.

I would like to be able to hover over [Remote] which, again, lies at the 'root' of GBPVR's knowledge of the directories it uses for music, and play all the music, randomized, at that top-level location. Pressing "Play" while hovering over [Remote] at this time locks up GBPVR.

Best,
-wg

I just tried this here and it worked for me.

Can you reproduce the problem then zip and attach the pvrx2.exe.log?

I've tried a few things to reproduce a scenario as similar as yours as I can, and it still seems to be working for me.

You logs actually look like its work, recursing through directories contained under \\Lcars\tunes, but failing to find any files with the extensions mp3|flac|wav|ogg|m3u|wma|ape|cda|aac|m4a|fla. I'm guessing the app is doing something wrong, but I cant see where...

There are 519 directories all with ogg, flac, or mp3's... one folder for each artist... quite a big collection of tunes. Is it possible that's too many? It sorta looks like it's getting through quite a few of them and then dying.

There is no limit there.

Are you able to setup a test with another share and smaller set of subdirectories?

A smaller set of directories (5) worked just fine.

Going back to the primary music collection (519 directories, 7564 music files), I should also add that I can play sub-directories using the shuffle/play feature, just not the main one.

Are there any non-music types of files (playlists, images) that would cause GBPVR to hang?

Nasty characters in filenames?

I do suspect its related to a specific directory name or something. Do you have any .lnk files in there?

That was it. It was actually a shortcut that would have caused an infinite loop if your algorithm is recursive. You'd have to leave some sort of 'trail of breadcrumbs' for yourself to detect this. Or just do away with me. Wink

Look for a clink in the tip jar in a few minutes for another awesome release.
