OK. First off all tests stock, bue skin...

One thing though, I don't know if it's a 1.2.9 thing or introduced in 1.1.5 as I started using mvpmc around beginning of Feb. And I never had problems with default blue on mvp with mvpmc.

Blocky font to me means, slight interlace fuzzyness square and jagged non rounded characters, (like the very old arcade video game fonts and stuff)

The defaults on both 1.1.5 and 1.2.9 make reading the TV Guide difficult and list in recording and video kinda tough. THe font looks scrawny, almost like some of it is not getting rendered. Scrawny means that the character has parts that are thinner than other parts (the vertical in Cap R)

Now to me, that interlace fuzz and video distortion looks like composite or vhs on slp. It's whatr I always saw untill I switched cabling to svideo, which was night and day for me. Certainly not vga dvi or hdmi, but very sharp...

Then I started using mvpmc in feb. Then I upgraded and started using the default dongle. that's when i noticed the trouble. I donwgraded to 1.1.5 to test and it was still there.

Last night I thought it was a mvp setting setting that got messed. I haven't tried the hauppauge software yet, but I have played with the settings in mvpmc. I was unable to make the mvpmc look bad, or comparable to the default dongle.

Again, it sort of looks like using composite, but I'm Only using a svideo cable and there is no other path for the video...

To give me a clear picture of what you're seeing, you can apply the attached patch, and add <MVPSaveCompositeRendering>true</MVPSaveCompositeRendering> to config.xml, and create a c:\temp directory. As you navigate around on the MVP every screen will be saved to c:\temp\mvp.bmp.

You can zip and attach some of these files to point out the problems.

OK sub. That sounds really good. Gonna be about three hours before I can test...

Bit of a problem - the bmp file is being overwritten as there is only one name/file so now I just get the SS bmp!

That was how I intended it to work. It's not a problem.

Just take a copy of the bitmap when you're on the screen you want to show me.

OK, I can get around that. I will disable the SS and save each bmp individually. No problem.

Here's a main menu bmp. Don't know whether it helps or not, though.

I've had a good close zoomed look at the differences between your screenshot, and one from v1.1.5 a couple of months back that martin produced: http://mvallevand.googlepages.com/getscreen.aspx.jpg. His screenshot was from a slightly different resolution to yours which does cause some minor differences, but they're pretty close.

As I mentioned above the middle menu item is a bit bigger. I did this because I didnt think it stood out enough, particularly when I had seven items on the main menu. The two menu items closest to the selected item are a little brighter since they are a little further from the fade gradient.

If you look at the selection description at the bottom of the screen, and the date/time at the top, both zoomed to at least 200%, the text quality is pretty much identical.

So far I'm not seeing anything in there which is unexpected. Definitely not enough difference to make me think something is broken. You guys are just too picky Big Grin
