Clean install - Cant play .avi .mpg in Video Archive (black screen)

Just done a clean install - is there some extra package I need to be able to view .avis using the video archive ?
They display fine in VLC, but I get a black screen when viewing in PVRX2 - audio is fine.

You'd need the appropriate directshow decoders for the type of video these .avi files contain. Usually the xvid or divx decoder.
