First a bit of history. I have been using DirecTivo for ages now, have a slightly modified version that is networked. I have also used MCE for a few months, then tried MythTV and finally settled on MediaPortal and used it for about a year for just movies, music and pictures. I still cant get MP to use my TV Tuner card so I came over here to check out GBPVR. I have 2 500gb drives raided almost full of videos and a 250gb drive about 1/2 full of music. All of our files are sorted hierarchically so I like file browser views in gbpvr.
Having slunk around the forums for a few days, tried every epg grabber there is and a half a dozen or so other plugins, I am quite impressed overall and left with just a few questions.
On to my questions:
For Music
1. If I chose a m3u playlist it doesn't show the items in the list.
2. Also once playing there is no pause button.
For videos
3. I can't find a suitable Vidoes capability that matches MP. Let me explain what MP does. MP's default view is file browser view (Just like Video Library). Perfect! If I highlight a movie and press the "info" button on my remote it pops up a menu of 5 options (delete, ..., ..., IMDB) if I select IMDB I get a screen that shows all the imdb info. If there is none, it searches IMDB and presents me with a list of possible matches, once I select the one I want it dl's all the information. I've looked at Movie Wizard and it's really nice, but there is no file/directory view, only sorts by genres. Is there a plugin that will do this, or any ideas on how to do this?
TV.
4. I just cant seem to understand the inter dependencies of the channels. Under Capture Sources I have a Hauppauge HVR-1600 and the two tuners are listed, but the same channels show up under analog and digital (ATSC under analog, and analog under ATSC, and now I also have a whole 2nd and 3rd set of channels that appeared after I imported the guide). This seems to be the most difficult part of gbpvr. BTW, I believe it's even worse in MP, but MCE makes this a snap. I dont know if it is possible to make this part easier or not, but it's still smacking me around.
5. In using the MceEpg tool, after updating the EPG I have all kinds of duplicate chanells, and no show data. Is there something off in the xml file? I wasn't sure whether this was a MceEpg tool problem or gbpvr problem so that's why I posted it here. Here is one channel description
GB-PVR Config Bug
Start Config, click on plugins tab, click on a checkbox next to any plugin and it doesn't do anything. You have to click on the text label first and then the checkbox.
I know this is a lengthy message. In the future I can certainly break up my posts into individual questions if that is the general preference of the group here.
