Installed 1.2.9, HVR-1600 digital tuner stopped working

Now, I have no idea if those thing are related, it's probable that something else broke it but after installing 1.2.9 was the first time I tried using it in a couple weeks. There was some problem installing 1.2.9 (it said install failed, wasn't very specific) so I unistalled/reinstalled. I have a Hauppauge HVR-1600, my analog tuner works fine but my digital tuner has stopped picking up any channels whatsoever (either QAM or ATSC). I've uninstalled this program as well as doing numerous uninstalls/reinstalls of the WinTV drivers and software, but it's still broken. I'm running Vista, it's something either with my computer or the driver configuration as it works fine in another computer with XP and the default WinTV drivers/software. Any tips?

Reproduce the problem then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

To be honest, I'm not really sure what to suggest. There is no sign of any errors, but the device fails to lock any signals. Can you still receive these channels in WinTV on that machine?

Yeah, it didn't work in WinTV either. I emailed their support and they said other people have had the issue as well, but they have no idea what causes it or how to fix it outside an OS reinstall.
Working on a fresh XP install. What the hell kind of issue causes it to stop working like that?

HJave you tried the full power down reset?
This means pulling the AC plug on the PC for several minutes before powering everything back up. The HVR cards are known to lock up the ATSC tuner, usually under poor signal conditions.

one of my tuners on my pvr500 stops working took ages to work why
it turned out to be over heating but the only way to start it up again is to do what zaphod7501 said
i now have big fan overtop of all pci slots seems to be fine
