i'm wondering tho if there are any other enhancements over their old cards..
[like say, the timestamp bug?]

The HVR 1250 seems to have software encoder only per Hauppauge. I understand the 2250 has hardware encoders. You are right tho' that the 1250 has only one tuner

ahh, thanx for the link....looks like its a half-height design...Big Grin
really cheap in stores,only 49$ when i saw it...with remote..
yea, analog only software compression, but it's a great second digi card..

1 thing i notice is the filtering..the hardware encoding cards do also offer temporal and spatial on analog side, and the newest ones offer 3d comb as well..[hvr1600+] tho i can't see much difference..

the hvr1250 sure did fly off the shelves quickly i noticed!

I have been considering the 1250 myself. Would that work with PVRX2? I know it's only software encoding, but for $49 what do you expect? Another thing, I have a ATI 2400pro, and I think that does hardware encoding. Any way to use that card for encoding our am I dreaming?

Sorry this device wont be usable for analog in GB-PVR. You could use it for ATSC/QAM though.

This videocard doesnt doesnt have a hardware encoder. It does have hardware acceleration feature that ease the burden on the CPU during playback (decoding).

Thanks, Sub, I would only use the 1250 for ATSC anyway. I have a Theater 550 with a STB plugged in that gives me all the analog I could want and then some! And just so you all know, when I do buy the 1250 I'll be here to pester about how to integrate 2 tuners into the grid.:eek:

As for the ATI 2400, I really thought I saw something about using Avivo to somehow transcode files, but I have looked at so much stuff in the last 6 months, I might have dreamed it!Big Grin

I just checked the ATI website. It apears that Avivo DOES do transcoding, and it looks fast. I am going to check it out.

Hi,

I have the Hauppauge 1250 TV tuner and I would like to use it with GBPVR using QAM and ATSC.
I don't care about analog.

I think I need to edit the BDA.ini file to get it to work but I am not sure what to put in it.

Could anyone help me out with this?

Thanks!

Can you run the filtercheck.exe utility, then zip and attach the filtercheck.log that gets created? From this I'll be able to tell you the bda.ini settings.

Try adding the following to your bda.ini file, then try setting up a capture source using the 'digital recording plugin'.

[Hauppauge HVR-1250MCE (ATSC)]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
FILTER_TUNER=Hauppauge WinTV 885 BDA Tuner/Demod
FILTER_CAPTURE=Hauppauge WinTV 885 TS Capture
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

[Hauppauge HVR-1250MCE (QAM)]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
TUNING_SPECIAL=2
FILTER_TUNER=Hauppauge WinTV 885 BDA Tuner/Demod
FILTER_CAPTURE=Hauppauge WinTV 885 TS Capture
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
