ATSC Digital Channel Mapping

Hey guys...

I'm using a Pinacle PCTV-HD with a built-in ATSC tuner to pull down OTA HD Channels. I'm using SchedulesDirect to provide my EPG data since they have not only the cable provider lineups but also the OTA channel listing.

SchedulesDirect lists my channels with their proper digital number (18.1,18.2,18.3,36.1,36.2,etc.) Is there a way to use digital numbering in GB-PVR without having to map these channels to another number? On my plasma tv I refer to the channel as 18.1 (or 18-1)... I would like to refer to these in this manner in GB-Pvr without having to map to another number (say 73).... I could map them to 181, 182,183 but I would like to call them by their native number.

With Digital on the horizon as the standard, can GB-PVR handle numbering this way?

Am I just missing something in the config or is their a plug in to do this?

Do the stations you receive OTA correspond to any of your cable channels? If so, you should be able map it to channel numbers from your cable listing & use that guide.

For that particular tuner, just disable the channels that you don't get OTA & map ones you do to the corresponding channel number from SD.

Some of the channels map back to SD channels and I could do that, but there are a number of channels that are exclusively digital and don't have an SD/Analog equivalent. SchedulesDirect scheduling refers to them with their proper number, I just want to be able to pull down a clean EPG from SchedulesDirect and have GB-PVR map the same numbers. This way I can manage channels I get just through SchedulesDirect without have to add/delete channels in both places. SchedulesDirect could become my one authoritative source.

No you'd have to map them to a channel number.

Sorry, I wont be implementing support for this braindead major.minor numbering scheme. This just an example of the US deciding to go its own way. The rest of the digital world still just uses channel numbers.

Have you tried using the Digital Cable lineup? That should still have all of your analog stations that you use for the NTSC tuner. I use the digital cable lineup from SD & just disable the digital channels in the capture card setup for my PVR-500 tuners.

This way you can use the same lineup for both tuners and on each tuner, just enable the channels associated with the stations that come in.

In my case, if I were setting up an ATSC tuner for WPVI-DT on channel 6.1, I would map it to channel 231 which is my digital cable lineup for WPVI-DT.
