My system is an HP Pavillion with HVR-1800, Q6700, 4gigs, Vista64. Yesterday I installed GB-PVR for the first time. I did my first QAM channel scan and many channels were found. most were "unknown" but all my local stations came up. The video worked on all the local channels(I didn't try seeing what the unknowns were) however there was no audio. So I thought maybe I did something wrong while installing. So I uninstalled everything(HVR drivers, 2005 redists and GB-PVR, can't uninstall DOTNET because it comes as part of Vista64). After reinstalling everything I rescanned for channels and now no channels are found. I've tried several times(reinstalling and re scanning). Were the channels were found the first time(starting around channel 73) the Strength meter would show between -5000 and -7000(that is the same as it showed the first time when it found channels) and the Quality was usually 100 though sometimes was a little lower. But no channels are found.

Also assuming I can get this fixed I still have the no audio problem.

From a command prompt that was started with 'run as administrator', run the reregisterfilter.bat file.

Its pretty common to get a lot of 'unknown' channels with QAM. They arent required to transmit the channel names with digital cable, and usually dont.

This was most likely because you didnt have an AC3 capable audio decoder installed. Try installing AC3Filter.
