Ok thanks, a just myproblem then :-) (if there are no more cases)

sub Wrote:I have seen the dscaler video decoder cause some black screen problems in the past
The black screen is generated only if I stop the recording service(windows start menu option), otherwise the image is fine. It smells strange to me.

Everything worked on my system with 1.1.5. After the disk broke down, I had to reinstall from operating system, will try to find out any differences.

I have changed everything: audio decoder, video decoder, multiplexer, trying every combination I could think of, all but the right one, it seems :-( .Still crashing. Tried to search any difference with my old, working system, but no clues yet.

A couple of additional data:
The crash happens only if one tuner is recording at the exit of a video image.
Both decoders can record at the same time without problems.
alt+F4 (remote control generated) produces a crash too (Exiting from a video image).
The result is system locked on a still image. The still image is visible through VNC (uh?)
Log shows no information at all.

My best guess is the problem is the configuration of the NOVA-TD card. I have used the new bda.ini, my old bda.ini and reused this solution http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...-td&page=2, nothing worked.

Can anybody provide any clue about what is going wrong?

I have a similar problem, when i stop the recording service, and then try to go and watch tv i get a black screen. I also have tried to go into the guide and select the channel from there but still no luck it sits on a black screen for a minute or so and then it goes back to the guide.

A related problem, but not sure if this is supposed to happen, my guess is no, when i am recording something, but gbpvr is not open, when i load it i try watching the channel its recording, i get a black screen.

My setup is latest gbpvr and QAM channels set up hauppauge 1600

Thanks

Not sure how, but the problem is solved, something related with my configuration, nothing to do with gbpvr itself.

First was chaos, then reconstruction and finally the problem dissapeared somehow. I will try to reconstruct the process in case it provides some useful information.

CHAOS: 15:37 My wife tried to watch tv, still image. There are traces reporting "something" happened. My interpretation is recording started unnoticed and something else. 17:46 traces generated, but user reports no activity.

RECONSTRUCTION: After restarting machine 19:36. TV is not visible. LiveTV holds black screen during seconds and then back to main menu. Reinstallation of gbpvr and hauppauge nova-td drivers. No tv image. I discover the LiveTV buffer directory c:\temp is missing (?), I made a new directory and set it up.
TV did not work, reporting a tmp file in the livetv buffer was empty. I changed the MDAPI filter and use live preview mode and it worked. About 21:00 the system worked.

Files attached:
starting logs.zip the chaos period.
logs.zip reconstruction
confignotworking.zip
config.zipl the working configuration

gbpvr itself wont be crashing anything
its drivers-hardware/ram/systemboard/hard drive/video card/tunercard
software(gbpvr) just uses those thing which brings about the crash so changing decoders etc wont stop a crash

Code:
2008-04-15 19:40:58.062    VERBOSE    FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: GB-PVR PSI Parser

Could this have an effect on the black screen issue? (ie, watching an in-progress recording or live TV would need the PSI parser to read the data wouldn't it?)
