I actually have two problems. The first is with my HD on my HVR-1600. I cannot watch HD channels for more than 30 minutes. They will randomly crash PVRX2 and I will have to manually restart the recording service in order to watch any kind of TV again. I have been unable to find anything in the logs. I can successfully watch HD TV in WinTV so I don't think it is a driver issue (I have the newest beta drivers installed from Hauppauge).

I also have another problem. Every so often it seems that pvrx2 won't tune anything when I try and watch LiveTV. WintV will tune fine but pvrx2 will just sit there with a black screen and not get anything. Sometimes this is for HD and SD channels, sometimes just SD, sometimes just HD. It is very strange. Sometimes I cannot get the LiveTV to come up but it will record the show just fine. In cases such as this this is in standard def only because my HD recordings never work. They are always rediculously slow during playback. I think this is a mux issue though.

Logs are attached.

I would like to know what the problem is also. I can record everything OK but when I try to watch live TV PVRX2 crashes in a few minutes. I just stopped watching live TV on PVRX2.
I can watch all recorded programs using PVRX2 with usual problems - occasional tearing, video slows down and catches up with sound, etc.

I had a porblem similar to this when I tok "customization" a little too far Wink

Check that you have the live preview option checked in the config. If you dont want to use live preview, make sure that the TV buffer directory actually exists that is listed in config. Mine actually did exist, but it was still being a pain in the butt, so I just made a new directory, pointed it there for the TV buffer, and all was well.

Maybe not your problem, but it's something to check. If the directory doesn't exist, or for some reason GBPVR refuses to write to it, PVRX2 does wonky things (at least it did for me).

I'll be darn! I had a directory called TV where I stored the recordings togehter with the live TV buffer. So I created a TV\LIVE folder, pointed it there for the TV buffer and have yet to see PVRX2 crashing. Big Grin
Who would have guessed!?

I was in the same situation when I discovered the issue. I was actually sending everything to a USB drive (buffer and recording) and thought perhaps I was having issues because the drive had to wake up, and pause wouldn't work (I use live preview mode 99% of the time). So I moved them both to the internal HDD (in the same directory again) and that worked for a little while... seemingly until there were a couple recordings int he folder and then buffering again didn't work. Since I've separated them I've had no issues.

Perhaps theres something going on having them both in the same folder. I dunno. Separate folders fixed it all though.

As a side note... it was the non existent buffer directory when I first installed on the new computer (I loaded an old config) doing the same thing that made me explore the new directory possibility. If it cant write the buffer to the disk, it just bonks.

Anyone have an idea why this would happen (not the lack of directory thing, but having recordings and bufferings in the same oflder thing)? I'm jsut curious is all.

So nobody has any ideas? WinTV will tune the card perfectly without crashes but PVRX2 has issues.

I cant see anything in your logs. Is there any crash message in the Windows Event Viewer?

I have seen the crashing using my HVR-1600 when I am tuning QAM. And it happens on one of the channels most frequently. The channel it crashes on is the local PBS channel and I suspect it is due to transmitting in 1080i. I switched to tuning OTA and the crashing no longer happens. It also seems that it crashes when it loses the ability to tune(QAM is not a fix all for reception problems, the HVR-1600 has problems tuning some channels over cable-go direct to the TV and reception is fine).
