I just bought a MediaMVP.

Most natural thing I do with any music source, like a CD, is to pick a track that I like to listen to. I expect when that track is done playing that it will play the next track. Thats the way everything has always worked.

I can't for the life of me figure out how to get MediaMVP to keep playing the next song once I've picked one. Am I missing something really basic? Seems like the only way I can do it is to manually select the next song after the 1st song is done.

I tried the Jukebox plugin to see if it would help. It spends a long time scanning my harddrive for MP3s and then seems to hang. Any suggestions here would be appreciated as well.

Seems to work for me. It just automatically plays the next song. I just use the built in music library.

I have found the MyMusic plug in the best by far. It has its faults but it is very good.

You can either select single tracks and/or add further ones to a playlist or by pressing the unnamed button (above the PLAY button) on the MVP remote when you are at a folder level it will play all tracks in that folder (& sub folders), further you can then randomise if you wish.

One wish is that we could have a button on the RC for Random as it is awkward to navigate to the left side menu to select. A bug seems to be that thereafter in that session any further randomising always starts at the 2nd track.

Try it, its real good.

I tried it again. If it really plays songs in sequence starting at any particular song, let me know the exact keystrokes cause I can't make it do it.

Generally the only options I've seen on the MediaMVP regardless of plugin are:
- play any one song
- play a playlist
- play all the songs in the folder and subfolders

There is no option to just play songs starting at any particular song... which is the default behavior for every other player I've ever seen. This seems really wierd to me. Same thing happens when watching videos. Can't automatically play the next one. No way to skip ahead to the next song or video.

Using Music Library. I navigate through directories down to a particular song, say its the 500th song in the list of 1000. I press "ok" key. It plays that song then stops. If I highlite the song, then do a left arrow to select "Play" down the left side of the screen and hit "ok", it plays that song then stops. If I select "Play All" on the left side, it starts playing the first song in the directory regardless of what I have highlited. If I then highlite the 500th song and press "ok", it plays the 500th song and stops.

I can't think of anything else to try. Just seems like the MediaMVP doesn't support it.

I think you are right in Music Library, I am just trying MyMusic now. It is strange how we all think differently (poor developers don't have a chance!Wink as I have never wanted or thought of doing what you are trying. I either want to play an album or specific tracks (jukebox style) or use a predefined (or on the fly) playlist. For me I can't think why I would want to select a certain track and then necessarily play the next ones (which I may or may not want to hear). If I did it would be in a playlist.

I am not saying you are wrong just would not worry me and NOW having checked MyMusic that doesnt do it either!!

You want to play one song, you play that song, you want to play others after then hit RED to add them to a new (Dynamic)playlist.

You want to play a list then select that list be it an album, an artist collection or a playlist, then in MyMusic use the unamed button.

If you go with My Music let me know and I will help if I can. If Reven is watching he may addwhat you want [Image: smile.gif]

Cheers

Yep, thats just the way it was designed to work. I'm sorry if that doesnt meet your needs.

I've run into this because many of my MP3s are dumped in one directory. Names start with artist or album so that I typically scroll down to the particular artist or album and start listening. Otherwise I have to move stuff into all sorts of directories or create all sorts of playlists. I like the dynamic playlist idea, I was trying to do that with Jukebox but can't get it to work.

I've had similar problems finding an DVD player that had good usability dealing with MP3s. My favorite is a Zenith DVB412. It plays whatever MP3 you select, then the next one, or whereever the cursor is when the previous song ends. You can pick the next song while one is playing. You can dynamically create and update a playlist while music is playing. You can add an individual song or all the songs in a directory.

While a song is playing, you can press the yellow button to queue another one.

Now I'm trying MyMusic. The dynamic playlist sounds good and its working for the most part, but I've seen some unexpected behavior and have some questions.

- Is this the best place to ask about MyMusic? Is there an author link or dedicated forum somewhere?
- The readme says the red remote button adds a file or all the files to the playlist. Which is it? For me it adds the one file, which is preferrable. Would be nice to also have a way to add a whole directory. Is there a way?
MyMusic seems to let me play a song i nthe middle of the playlist and keeps playing after that.
- If I leave MyMusic, after the current song, nothing else plays, even in a playlist. I specifically went to the RssReader (News) menu.
- Is source available for this plugin?

on a (somewhat) related note, I have a silly question...

I am using the 'My xxxx' plugins, which I really like, but with 'My Music', which button do I press on my MVP 45 button remote to get it to 'play all'? It doesn't have the unmarked button...

I have both remotes, but prefer the new one....

thanks!
