Hello, I've searched the forum and the wiki for this and I can't find a refference to this in either place stating yes or no.

I'd like ti know if I have GBPVR run a custom command before recording and perhaps live TV and maybe afterwards.

I need to send a cusome command via hip send to change my box to SD instead of HD, however I could find this useful for all sorts of things.

P.S. Because I know sub is wonderful and actually looks at threads: Finally got all the codes need for my VIP 1200 but I couldn't get GBPVR to dail 4 digit channels manually If I selected to watch a show via the guide that had 4 digits that was fine but keying IE:1234 did not work.

The best you could probably do for running a command before the recording is use the '.exe channel changer' for that capture source pointed at a batch file.

Sub,
What about RecordingStatus.bat, isn't that called when recording service starts? Also, is that before the channel change is sent?
I am using another computer as a client, and it would be nice to be able to turn on the STB on my server when I want to watch tv on another floor of the house through the client computer. (Be a pain to have to run downstairs to turn on the STB!)

You could probably do something with that too. It'd usually be called shortly after the recording starts though.

I use subs suggestion of using an indirect file (batch) called from the .exe channel changer call that gbpvr does.
I use it to ensure my STB is not in standby when recording starts - much the same as your SD requirement.

If you are using HIP you can map your desired command to a keyboard letter and add that in the parameters where you entered {channels}
you can place the mapped command before {channels} an it will execute before the channel change or after {channels} to execute after the channel change.

Good luck

If you have to press multiple buttons to reach your SD command on the receiver just map each button to a letter and add that .

example
{channels}ghj

say g is menu
h could be left down
j could be enter

on your remote

I'd love to see that batch file. Does it still let you change channels?

TVShowman,

That works in IR Server Suite also!! I had already set up the select command, so all I had to do was add "s" before the channel and it works!! Is there some kind of way to pause the channel.exe to give the STB a chance to catch up? It seems to work fine, but I want to get insurance. I have been looking for this for like 2 months, and I only had to add one letter to make it work. Can you guys like cure world hunger too?

P.S. martint123, if you don't mind I'd still like to see that batch file, it took me like 45 minutes to write a simple 4 line file that would work.

P.P.S.Sub, I tried to put RecordingStatus.bat in the GBPVR directory, but it seems PVRX2 ignored it. If I clicked it it would work fine, and turn on the STB. When I tried to watch something, I saw the IR blaster flash, but the STB stayed off. Maybe no work in PVRX?

Its run by the GBPVRTray.exe utility, so that needs to be running. Its independent of PVRX2.EXE/GBPVR.EXE.

Thanks everyone, I can try recordingstatus.bat I can't really use the channel one (I was thinking about that) as it takes a long time for this to happen and to have it happen every time I change the channel would be annoying, as I might watch live TV. If recordingstatus.bat would only be triggered on recordings and the start of liveTV that would be just what I need.

Here's to hoping IR Blasting can be acceptable!
