Restart IR lose TV and Guide

I am runnign version 1.2.13, and today I have encountered a new problem. I can Start PVRX2 fine using my keyboard and I can watch Live TV and View the TV Guide, but when I try to start PVRX2 with my Hauppage 45 button remote, PVRX2 starts ok but when I select Live TV nothing happens, and when I select TV Guide I get the Community 3 background and the program locks up. I think I have narrowed the problem down to the restart IR, when this program is closed the keyboard can control PVRX2 and everythign is great but when i restart IR I lose Guide and Live TV.

I have selected in the config the Hauppage Default Remote and pressed the 45-button remote option.

Has anyone else witnessed this problem.

Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

I seem to recall that someone else had this problem.

It is related to the permissions/credentials that ir.exe is running with vs pvrx2.exe when running vista.

try a search for ir.exe in the forum (it's very late for me so I don't have the energy atm)

Search you hard drive for any extra copies of config.xml. If its a GB-PVR config.xml file, then it should only be in the c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr directory.

I search the HD and the only config.xml file associated with GB-PVR is in the C:\program files\devnz\gbpvr directory.

In reading the posts suggested by gEd, the 2 hauppage capture cards I have installed might be the source of the problem, I have a 1600 and 950Q, but I have not configured the 950Q as a capture source in GB-PVR.

actually I think that the thread I was trying to think of is the one where the poster had 2 x config.xml files....

I checked the Virtual Store and there was not a duplicate config.xml file. I have also searched for an additonal config.xml file, is there another location that it could be hiding?

I have uninstalled/reinstalled GBPVR, all the Hauppageand IR drivers and programs and still no luck with the Hauppage 45button remote. Keyboard still works fine. All other remote buttons work fine, I just cant press the OK button in teh TV Guide or the Live TV, the OK button works fine in all the other menus and other programs besides PVRX2. The remote worked fine 10 days ago with PVRX2.

In reviewing the Logs this morning, I noticed that i get the following info in the PVRX2.log file that i dotn get when I exit IR.exe.

I also thought there might be a problem with the irremote.ini file but since the OK button works with other menu items I figured it was something that has to do with the IR.exe.

is ir.exe running ok?

run "notepad debug.txt" from the command prompt. every time you press a button on the remote, it should add the corrosponding button text to notepad.

upload your irremote.ini file from c:\windows and again, make sure that you only have one such file.

I battled with my Hauppauge 45 button remote for months with various issues (including not working after hibernate and buttons not working correctly). In the end I gave up and bought another MCE remote.

I have tried the last 2 version os IR.exe, the remote works fine in WinTV and MC and work s fine in any other menue options but Tv Guide and Live TV with PVRX2.

If i am doing the notepad debug.txt correctly i get nothing in teh text box. I tried restarting IR before running notepad debug.txt, during and after and i never received any commands in the text box when remote buttons are pressed.

Only 1 irreomte.ini file and it is attached.

When you say it works fine do you mean just the arrow keys and OK or the other buttons as well? The former can work even when things are set up correctly.

for example, go into recordings and press the back key, it should take you back to the menu.

when you restart ir.exe can you see it running in task manager ?

If you can't get it to display text in notepad debug.txt then something is wrong and it won't work in gbpvr.
