wtg Mediainfo does identifies your file as 16:9

Pixel Aspect Ratio : 1.185

I'm venturing into a realm I don't know enough about, but I was speculating that the 16/9 aspect ratio Media Info shows is just based on the simple devision of 720/480, but that the aspect ratio wasn't really being stored in the file.

But perhaps it is stored, just wrong. In any event the 720/480 captures you get from a PVR-150 do show correct DAR value of 4/3 where the HD-PVR is showing 16/9. In the end it's not a big deal for me since I don't intend to use the device for analog SD captures but if someone were hoping to use it for all captures of their STD, HD or SD, it might pose a problem.

It definitely doesn't playback correctly on my Popcorn Hour.

Oh, and were do you see pixel aspect ratio in Media Info? I don't see it displayed anywhere.

i am capturing in 720p from dtv h20 ,the video i capture at 8mbps and at 10mbps look great plays smooth, audio video in sync but throughout i get video anomalies, not the whole picture studders but random areas of the video.i have captured with the box closed and with it opened with a fan blowing on it, no difference.it seems either driver or software related.i have captured with arcsoft and sagetv same results.i had a problem with playback but downloaded k-lite mega codec update 20080606 and playback is fine.gonna try a different usb port.

update;i felt like the glitches had something to do with usb so i downloaded the usb drivers for my mobo and installed.
the past few days when i turn on the hd-pvr the usb symbol would show in the taskbar for a few seconds ,this seems to be when i get glitchy video.now i turn it on and it seems to load correctly and the video is smooth no glitches.

My HD-PVR continues to work well and so far I'm pretty pleased with it. I've made several hours of recordings and they all play back just fine on the PCH. One thing I've noticed is that the fast forward on the PCH is a lot slower when playing back files recorded with the HD-PVR. The 8X FF seems to be really maybe only 2X, if that. TS files recorded via the Twinhan OTA card really rip at 8X FF. Is that an artifact of the recording format? Any way to speed it up? I guess I've been spoiled by comskip...

Well, I have no doubt whatsoever the freezing is due to heat. Several days of messing with drivers resulted in no improvement. Freezing would occur anywhere from 5 seconds to 120 seconds. Some have mentioned tipping their unit on its side to improve performance. I did that and couldn't be sure that was the culprit. Right now my box is sitting in an ice pack and working just fine for over 15 minutes thus far. Anyone else experiencing freeze issues should give this a try and report your findings. In my case frozen lasagna and a bag of frozen string beans fit the bill.

Hopefully Hauppague is going to fix this issue - sounds like poor design. Otherwise, at risk of warranty void I will thrown this on my watercool loop Smile

Cheers,

8x HD is well beyond the 40Mbs that the PCH can handle (remember it is just a fast play). At the highest HD PVR recording setting, the best you can hope for is 3x.

I've gotten mine to work, somewhat. Heat does seem to be an issue. Mine is OK when on its side, freezes after a few minutes when flat. Biggest issues, though are these:

1) Doesn't always start recordings, either live tv or straight recording. Sometimes no sound, or nothing at all. Sometimes have to start several times to get it right.

2) Pauseing live tv or recording. Pauses OK, but on resume, picture breaks up. Have to re-start to get clear picture. I'm using the ARCsoft decoder. I've tried ffdshow and CoreAVC, but neither produces any video.

i upgraded to 1.2.13 before installing the HD-pvr. Upgrade seemed OK. I also have a pvr-250 and an hvr-1800 installed.

More issues:

When watching live tv, hd-pvr does not start a new file at the end of one program and beginning of another.
