Mine gbpvr installation has started to do exactly this except I'm not using the Hauppauge card that's in there (trying to get it stable with just configuring the DVB-S card although I do have a PVR350 in the box). All I've done since before this happened was upgrade the ATI driver (HD2600XT AGP) and also swap the main memory over with another machine so I now have 1G. It was fine for the evening after I did this, but from the next day I get exactly what's described here. I cant watch anything and it's not using timeshift mode. Looks like I'll need to reinstall??

Woah., this has fixed my issue too, thought i'd try this before reinstalling, weird !!!
I can switch back & forth, crash with original mpeg2data.ax and Psisdecd.dll, fine with the MCE2005 ones.
I'm running XP pro SP2 on my PVR setup. And I don't understand why it's just started happening again after months of being ok. And why a reinstall fixed it before.. so many questions.

Still, Daniel P, thanks for your help.

DanielP you're a genius! That's also fixed my crashing issue! Big Grin How the hell did you narrow it down to a single dll and ax file?! Thanks for all your hardward and for posting the fix!

Well, my wife was off sick when the pigging thing started going wrong, so I had to sort it out quickly before the "wife and kid friendliness" of my new GBPVR system went down the pan forever.

If you look on the Hauppauge forums, there are loads of complaints about this issue- after lots of digging around, I found those two files. I didn't package them or anything, someone put the package in one of the posts on the Hauppauge Finland forum.

Glad it helped, because I was reading about people doing fresh re-installs and the problem not going away. Probably saved a pointless rebuild and returning the card for a replacement (which may not have worked either!).

I used to work in IT support, so I tend to hold on a little longer than most before reinstalling the OS.

Yes, it fixed my crashing problem as well on my test server. Machine was XP SP2 and a videomate dvb-s card along with a nova-t-500 (but not configured).

I was holding off putting the dvb-s card in the main server because of this.

thanks for the info

It has also fixed my main server which used to occasionally crash in the same way when doing a channel scan.

Daniel - might be worth a PM to sub to suggest a possible addition to one of the survival guides - although it isn't a release specific problem, but seems to have appeared out of the blue for a number of folk.
