Hi - I have GB-PVR 1.2.13 running under Vista 64 & keep getting crashes anything from a minute to an hour after starting to watch TV. Vista reports these are caused by DEP (Data Execution Prevention) kicking in. Unfortunately, Vista has decided I cannot mark GB-PVR as exempt from DEP checking

What else can I try to solve this?

Try using a different audio/video decoder.

Hi - thanks. I am using Cyberlink PDVD8 decoder & AC3 filter because in New Zealand TV is broadcast in H264 & AC3 - are there any better codecs I should try?

I had similar problem under vista, it turned out it was due to ffdshow trying to insert it self into the decoder chain, I ended up uninstalling it and installing a newer version of ffdshow tryouts and it behaved it self then.
If you have ffdshow you might try uninstalling it.

Hi thanks, will give it a try -explanation makes sense as I see the small ffshow icon appear with GBPVR even though this is no longer selected anywhere within configuration.

Looks like that wasn't the problem - codec pack uninstalled & I have no sound in GBPVR now (ok for other apps or DVD playback in windows media player classic), even with all playback settings to defaults, and after running reregister filters .bat.
FFDshow no longer appears, but GBPVR still crashes the same way with Vista data execution prevention kicking in.

Are you using the hardware decoding of the ATI card?

I had issues with crashes caused by my 2600XT, when trying to use DVXA2but seeing as you have a good cpu / amnt of ram, you may not need it?

I am not sure how to enable or disable hardware decoding - what do I need to do?
Decoding H264 from freeview channel 3 I am finding CPU utilization at around 23%, & other channels around 14% - this is using Vista EVR as renderer, though VMR9 not much different.
Does this suggest hardware decoding is not in use?

Cheers

Hi - still DEP a problem, nearly a year later, and under version 1.3.11.

Any ideas out there?

Cheers

I had these with some version of the psiparser file that was posted for a while. The latest one in the survival guide fixed the problem for me though.

I'm running Vista x64, 780G motherboard with ATI HD3200 hardware accelleration for mpeg2 and H264. Also using ffdshow tryouts and have no DEP issues since the latest psiparser fix.
