This website and forum exists to support the application called GB-PVR. It is an application for viewing/recording/watching tv.

It's a Home Theatre application that runs on your PC

More details here and on the GBPVR WIKI.

It's a really great application roadster and this is a great forum. I've been using it for a few years; it'll change the way you handle/record/watch TV.

Cheers

jksmurf Wrote:Cool, that is excellent news for me!

The H264 digital stream (and also MPEG2 stream presumably) can go direct to disk ... and my POPCORN Hour can play it back :-).

Now that sounds cool. As a NZ'er waiting for HD it means I am guessing that gbpvr can record the streams okay but not requiring too much CPU load. Then the Popcorn Hour (I have also ordered one and it's winging its way to me soon I hope) can play them back just by mouting the drive on the PC using NFS?

Hi Roadster...

I have the same situation as you.

I purchased the WinTV DMB-T Stick two days ago. It was very strange that sometimes it worked fine but sometimes it got totaly no signal.

I had tried it with my two notebooks and three desktop pcs. Its behavior was really strange. I don't know how to explain.

So, I took it back to the store and told the details to the seller last night.

But they did not believe me and said that it might be the problem of my cable or the signal of my living area.

So I asked them to try my stick. Fortunately, it cannot work at that time. So they took a new one and exchanged to me.

However, when they tried the new stick, only 7 of 13 channels worked properly. Others were no picture or very ugly picture. They said to me that some channels might be temperarily disabled and asked me took it back and tried it at home.

After I took the new stick to home and tried, It could scan all the 13 channels and worked properly in my DELL notebook.

However, when I pluged it to my desktop pc, it cannot scan any channel and display no signal again. Then I tried to plug back to my DELL notebook, some channels suddenly displayed black picture.

I really think that it was the problem of the hardware or the driver or the software. So I searched out from google and found that if there any people have the same situation as me.

Hope that it is not the problem of the hardware or I need to take it back to store again. Aiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii...

roadster Wrote:Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum.

I just purchased the WinTV DMB-T USB in Hong Kong, and I think there's something wrong with it.

Sometimes, I'll say around 70% of the time, the DMB-T works fine. However, the other 30%, I will turn on TotalMedia to watch TV and I will get absolutely no signal for all channels.

I've tried reopening TotalMedia, Logging Off, enabling and disabling hardware acceleration, etc.

The only way I've found is to restart the PC and pray the signal comes back which usually it does. I've updated to the newest patches on TotalMedia and on my nVidia drivers. I am using Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit.

I don't know if my DMB-T is faulty or the antenna in my building just isn't good enough?

Has anyone encountered this same situation?

Thanks!

My specs below:
Dell XPS 720
Core 2 Quad@2.4GHz
2GB RAM@800MHz
8800GT SLi
3007FPW-HC

As of 29th February there seems to be a new driver CD on http://www.shooting.com.hk. I'm downloading it now to see what it is exactly.

Yes (though you dont have to use NFS).

Unfortunately there is a problem though. The PH is unable to play the HE AAC audio that was recently enabled on DVB-T system. The manufacturer looking into it though, so I'm hopeful it will be resolved.

whurlston Wrote:Try adding this to your bda.ini to get the digital side going:
Code:
[Hauppauge DMB-T HDTV/SDTV]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-T
FILTER_TUNER=Digital TV
FILTER_CAPTURE=AVStream TS Capture
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
NOTE: I don't know what TUNING_TYPE type you need so I guessed. You may need to change it. If you have a DMB-T provider, you may need to set it to that.

sub, I now have one of these sticks but there is no setting in BDA.ini so I am adding the same as above. Changing DVB-T to DMB-T gives an error. No success with scan yet but need to check if we have a signal here as not due until July.

There is no BDA DMB-T tuning. Assuming this device has drivers that emulate DVB-T drivers, then you'd need "TUNING_TYPE=DVB-T". Thats what another user indicated he used successfully earlier in this thread.

Okey dokey. Wasn't sure if he changed it as per whurlston's comment or not ... :-) I did check the thread but it wasn't clear to me.
