I figured as much, however, I'm just started building a new rig so I figured I'd wait until I have that to get everything just right.

I dont know. I guess its worth reporting back to them. If others are reporting the same thing it may help them determine the cause.

Just called Hauppauge - they said they tested it for ~8 hours, but they gave me a new RMA# to try again...

Hopefully they test it longer, because mine worked fine the first night (come to think of it, my original unit worked fine for a day too).

I've hit other problems with this thing too, it's just the overheating one is the most serious. I'm curious if anyone else has run into this.

Installing this thing completely hosed the IR receiver and blaster I was using with my PVR-250. I've tried reinstalling several times and cannot get it to work, though I've not used the HWClear utility yet - I guess that's next. I've been trying to avoid blowing everything away and reinstalling my 150 and 250 drivers.

Also, I still have an unknown device showing up in the Device manager, which I think is the IR receiver or blaster of the HD-PVR. I'm not really sure though... I just know that it is somehow related to the HD-PVR, and neither it's receiver or blaster are functional.

Anyone else using this successfully in conjunction with existing Hauppauge IR receivers or blasters?

I believe that you can only use one hauppauge device for blasting regardless of how many devices you have installed. I found the reg settings sometime back that I thing tells the drivers which device to use for blasting but since I the HD-PVR is the only Hauppauge device I have, I didn't pay too much attention to it. I'll see if I can find it again.

Yeah, I knew the software only supported using one blaster or receiver, but unfortunately I can't get any of them to work now. I didn't know there was a particular registry setting that controlled which one to use... I'll look too.

That said, I'm going to try and run the clear program and reinstall everything if only to get rid of the dumb unknown device in the device manager. I should probably try installing it on another PC that has no other Hauppauge devices only to see how that goes, and maybe see what a clean install looks like.

Just not enough time in the day...

How's yours working for you whurlston?

To be honest, I have not had any time to play with it.

I did open up regedit and to my joy I had closed it onthe very registry setting that I needed:
Code:
HKLM\Software\Hauppauge\IR
I have:
BlasterI2CType=0
IRBlasterPort=0
IRBlasterPortCount=1
IRBlasterUsePort=1
PollRate=c8

All are Hexadecimal DWORD values. I'm gessing that more than one device would change the IRBlasterPortCount value and the IRBlasterUsePort value determines which one is used. As I said, I only have one device so I can't test it.

After looking again, I also have:
Code:
HKLM\Software\Hauppauge\hcwTVWnd\AllowIRBlaster=0
I don't know if any other settings are pertinent but that should give you some direction.

sub, whenever I try to watch Live TV from the device, I get no sound. I checked the graph and the audio pin is created but there is no stream mapped to it.
